    STORYLINE:
For Colombian singer-songwriter Sebastián Yatra, life is full of small miracles that come from dance, family and freedom.
All of these albums and songs have had accompanied me through a lot of growth from 18 to 19 to 30 where I experienced a lot
"I saw happiness as a child as my long-term goal, one day to be happy, but I saw it as something very far away, and now I feel it in everything I do," he said in a recent interview from Mexico City.
"What motivates me the most is to share that philosophy of life and that way of seeing things, and ‘Milagro’ is my way of expressing that perspective, that change of perspective that helps me to live everything from gratitude and love," said the Grammy and Latin Grammy winner.
"Milagro" is his fourth album and comes three years after his previous production, “Dharma.”
"All these albums and these songs have accompanied me in a moment of very big growth that is from 18 or 19 to 30, where you live a lot of things, and you really end up defining much more, I don’t know if who you are, but at least who you want to be," said the artist.
The name of the album came about, in part, from a phrase in a recent book by his brother Andrés who is a novelist: Life denies miracles until one realizes that everything is a miracle.
Yatra stressed that changing his perspective on the world made it easier for him to find more and more miracles, from giving a hug and receiving a call from his parents to having a coffee in the morning.
"So, when you see everything as a miracle, you start to be grateful for every little thing in the universe and you find its magic."
On "Templo de Piceas," he is joined by Mexican artist Humbe, and on "2AM," he performs with the Catalan artist Bad Gyal.

  • Why popes and other Catholics pray to the Virgin Mary, AP explains
    (17 May 2025)

    Genazzano, Italy - 15 May 2025

    2. Flowers and candles on altar in front of icon of Virgin Mary

    4. Tilt down of Sanctuary of Our Mother of Good Counsel
    ASSOCIATED PRESS
    Rome, Italy - 14 May 2025
    5. SOUNDBITE (English) Giovanna Dell’Orto, The Associated Press:
“Pope Leo XIV invoked Our Lady of Pompeii in his very first public appearance after being elected pope on May 8. In his first trip outside of Rome as pope he went to visit an Augustinian church, the same order he belongs to, in the town of Genazzano just south of Rome that is devoted to another title of the Virgin Mary, in this case the Madonna del Buon Consiglio (Madonna of Good Counsel). And on his drive back to Rome he stopped to pray at the tomb of Pope Francis who wanted to be buried next to his favorite Madonna, the Salus Populi Romani in the Basilica of St. Mary Major.”
    6. Various of marble statue of the Labor Madonna, sculpted by Jacopo Sansovino in the 16th century
    7. Faithful praying in a chapel in front of a painting of the Madonna with child
    8. SOUNDBITE (English) Giovanna Dell’Orto, The Associated Press:
“So you might be wondering just how many Virgin Marys are there, and why is this veneration so important to Christians and Catholic in particular, from the popes on down to the ordinary faithful. Well, first of all there is of course only one Mary, she is the mother of Jesus, and the mystery of how she can be both human and the mother of the son of God is absolutely central to Christian dogma. As a matter of fact her oldest historical title is in Greek “Theotokos” which means literally that, the mother of god, and it took centuries of theological debate to establish that. But there are many other titles of veneration to the Virgin Mary, some of them are linked to events in her life, for example the Assumption, which is celebrated on August 15, and in many countries including Italy, Greece and others is still a major holiday, everybody is on vacation on that day, even atheists and secular people. Then there are titles that are connected to specific apparitions, for example in the Americas: the Virgin of Guadalupe, centuries old apparition in modern day Mexico, in Europe: Our Lady of Fatima, in Portugal: Our Lady of Lourdes more recently in France, also Marian apparitions are celebrated. And then there are local events, there are multiple titles, that may be connected to specific places, a specific icon, a specific veneration. For example, to go back to the Augustinians, they also administer the Church of the Basilica of St. Augustine in downtown Rome, and here there are multiple ones, the Madonna dei Pellegrini, a very famous painting by Caravaggio, there is a much venerated Madonna del Parto that many women who are expecting a child come to to pray for a safe labor.”
    9. Wide of the Cavalletti Chapel inside the basilica of St. Augustine, Caravaggio’s painting 'Madonna of Loreto' (16th Century), also known as Madonna dei Pellegrini (Madonna of Pilgrims) at the center of the chapel
    10. Various of ‘Madonna del Pellegrini’ painting
    STORYLINE:
Pope Leo XIV closed his first public blessing as pontiff with a Hail Mary, after invoking the feast day of Our Lady of Pompeii.
On his first papal trip, he went to the Sanctuary of Our Mother of Good Counsel in the medieval village of Genazzano and on the drive back stopped to pray by Pope Francis’ tomb in the Basilica of St. Mary Major in Rome.

Heather Donahue is walking through the woods once again. The star of the successful low-budget horror movie “The Blair Witch Project” has an on-screen history of getting into scary situations in a forest.
But this time she's merely picking up an old soda can someone carelessly left on a trail. And she wouldn't want to be anywhere else.
“For me, reading fairy tales, I always wanted to live in the forest,” said Donahue, 51, who moved on from acting long ago and now lives in rural Maine. “It is absolutely as magical as it seemed in those storybooks.”

    STORYLINE:
An American basketball player for the Indonesian league was arrested for allegedly attempting to smuggle illegal drugs to the country, police said Thursday.
The Southeast Asian country has extremely strict drug laws, and convicted smugglers are sometimes executed by firing squad.
Jarred Dwayne Shaw, 34, from Dallas, Texas, was arrested May 7, after police raided his apartment in Tangerang regency, just outside the capital, Jakarta, and seized 132 pieces of cannabis candies, said Ronald Sipayung, the Soekarno-Hatta Airport police chief.
The arrest followed a tip from the airport’s customs that reported Shaw had received a suspicious airway package from Thailand, Sipayung said.
Cannabis has been decriminalized in Thailand since November 2024.
Under Indonesia’s anti-drug laws, Shaw faces up to life sentence or death penalty if found guilty, Sipayung said.
A video circulating on social media purportedly showed Shaw, wearing a black T-shirt and shorts, resisting as he's being pushed away by police and shouting “Help … help!” when he was about to be arrested.
Shaw has played for several clubs in the Indonesian Basketball League since 2022, and signed a contract with Tangerang Hawk last year.
He told police during interrogation that he wanted to share the cannabis candy with fellow basketball players, according to Sipayung.
He said the candy contained a total gross weight of 869 grams (30.6 ounces) of illegal cannabinoid inside a package.
“We are still running the investigation to uncover the international drugs network behind this case and to stop its distribution,” Sipayung said.
Shaw did not make any statement when he was presented by the authorities at a news conference Wednesday wearing a detainee orange T-shirt and a mask with his hands tied.
Tangerang Hawks' manager, Tikky Suwantikno, told reporters on Thursday that they regretted what had been done by Shaw and the club had immediately fired him as he has breached the contract.
The Indonesian Basketball League banned Shaw from playing for life, said its chair, Budisatrio Djiwandono.
“We don’t tolerate players, administrators or anyone in the field involved in drugs. There is no room for drug users in the basketball world,” Djiwandono said.
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime says Indonesia is a major drug-smuggling hub despite having some of the strictest drug laws in the world, in part because international drug syndicates target its young population.

  • Four dead after tornado and severe storm batters St. Louis
    (17 May 2025)
    RESTRICTION SUMMARY:
    ASSOCIATED PRESS
    St. Louis - 16 May 2025

    2. Fallen tree blocking entrance to J.E. Crummie building after storm
    3. Various of emergency responders and residents clearing fallen trees
    STORYLINE:
At least four people died and authorities were searching from building to building for people who were trapped or hurt after severe storms including a possible tornado swept through St. Louis.
The storms Friday afternoon tore roofs off buildings, ripped bricks off of siding and downed trees and power lines as residents were urged to take cover.
St. Louis Mayor Cara Spencer confirmed the deaths at a media briefing.
National Weather Service radar indicated that a tornado touched down between 2:30 p.m. and 2:50 p.m. in Clayton, Missouri, in the St. Louis area.
The apparent tornado touched down in the area of Forest Park, home to the St. Louis Zoo and the site of the 1904 World’s Fair and Olympic Games the same year.
At Centennial Christian Church, City of St. Louis Fire Department Battalion Chief William Pollihan told The Associated Press that three people had to be rescued after part of the church crumbled. One of those people died.
Downed trees and stop lights also caused traffic gridlock during the Friday afternoon commute, and officials urged people to stay home if possible.
The storms were part of a severe weather system that spawned tornadoes in Wisconsin, downed trees, left thousands without power in the Great Lakes region and brought a punishing heat wave to Texas.

  • Bolivian police clash with supporters of former president Evo Morales during La Paz march
    (17 May 2025)
    RESTRICTON SUMMARY:
    ASSOCIATED PRESS
    La Paz, Bolivia - 16 May 2025
    1. Demonstrators marching after breaking police line, police officers in riot gear walk alongside them
    2. Various of police firing several tear gas canisters and spraying gas towards protesters
    3. SOUNDBITE (Spanish) Eduardo Ticona, demonstrator:
"Where have this traitor government left us? This is why we want to support Evo Morales in the ballot as our representative. He is the only one, because he is a revolutionary leader, not an imposed one."
    4. Woman crying on her knees in front of police with riot shields
    5. Various of demonstrators chanting (Spanish): "If we are not the people, then where are they!" "Companions what do we want?" "For Evo to come back!"
    STORYLINE:
Hundreds of supporters of Bolivia's former president Evo Morales marched toward the country's top electoral court on Friday to push for their leader's candidacy in presidential elections later this year.
The rally later descended into street clashes as police tried to clear out a group of demonstrators.
The confrontations come in response to a ruling by Bolivia’s Constitutional Court that blocks Morales, the nation's first Indigenous president who governed from 2006 until his ouster in 2019, from running again in August elections.
As the march arrived in Bolivia's capital of La Paz, protesters seeking to register Morales’ candidacy surged toward the Supreme Electoral Tribunal. Security forces barricading a road to the court held them back.
Police reported two officers, a journalist and a local merchant were injured in the clashes.
Footage showed police using tear gas to disperse the crowd and moving to detain some of the protest's organizers.
The court's unanimous decision Wednesday upheld an earlier ruling that bans presidents from serving more than two terms.
Morales has already served three, and, in 2019, resigned under pressure from the military and went into exile as protests erupted over his bid for an unprecedented fourth term.
Morales returned to Bolivia a year later as the 2020 elections vaulted to power his preferred candidate, President Luis Arce, from his long-dominant Movement Toward Socialism party.
Arce, who announced earlier this week that he would not seek re-election, insisted that the Constitutional Court had disqualified Morales, his mentor-turned-rival, from running in 2025.
