Trump, asked if he has marital advice for French President Macron after a video emerged of his wife slapping him before they departed an airplane, said: “Make sure the door remains closed.”

The president says he spoke with Macron after video captured his wife shoving him in the face just as they arrived on a visit to Vietnam.

“No, he's fine,” Trump added. “Two really good people I know very well ... I don't know what that was all about.”

Watch live as President Donald Trump hosts Elon Musk in a final White House press event on Friday (30 May), a few days after the Tesla billionaire announced that he would be stepping back from the administration.

Trump announced that the pair would appear together in the Oval office in a TruthSocial post yesterday.

He wrote: “This will be his last day, but not really, because he will, always, be with us, helping all the way. Elon is terrific! See you tomorrow at the White House.”

Mr Musk was granted special government employee status for 130 days to lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to cut federal spending.

After four months in the role, he announced on Wednesday (28 May) that his time in the Trump administration has come “to an end.”

Tom Daley said he “felt helpless” for his younger self as he reflected on growing up in the spotlight.

The British Olympic diving gold medallist retired after the Paris 2024 Olympics, having first risen to fame at the 2008 Beijing Games aged 14.

“There’s all kinds of things I didn’t even know I should have tried to protect from a young age,” he told The Independent at the premiere of 1.6 Seconds, a documentary featuring unseen footage from his journey as a young teen.

Harvard University’s president took a swipe at Donald Trump’s attempts to kick foreign students out of the Ivy League institution.

Speaking at the university’s commencement ceremony for the class of 2025, Alan Garber addressed people “from down the street, across the country and around the world”.

His comments received a thunderous applause, after which he reiterated: “Around the world, just as it should be.”

The crowd of graduates and Harvard community members then gave Mr Gerber a standing ovation.

His comments appeared to be a swipe at the Trump administration’s push to block the university from enrolling foreign students, a plan that was blocked by a federal judge.

This is the moment a thief used wheelie bins to steal £3,000 worth of Footlocker items after breaking into a store in Nottingham in the early hours of 13 May.

CCTV inquiries found 28-year-old Reece Wheat, of no fixed address, was responsible for the burglary and that he’d gained access by removing window bars and climbing into a toilet area within the premises. The bins, stolen from a nearby bar, were used to transport the items.

Once inside, he changed into staff uniform in an apparent effort to thwart a police investigation.

Wheat also stole almost £30 worth of washing capsules from Savers, in Exchange Street, on 27 April.

He pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary, two counts of theft and using threatening words with intent to cause fear of violence and was jailed for nine months on Monday (26 May).
