A meeting between President Donald Trump and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa which the South African leader said was intended to “reset” the relationship between both governments after months of tensions went off the rails when Trump confronted his guest with inflammatory videos and news articles which he alleged to be evidence of “genocide” against white South Africans.

The Oval Office session had been largely calm and filled with compliments delivered from both Trump and Ramaphosa when the American leader was asked what it would take for Ramaphosa to convince him that no such “genocide” was taking place.

Trump directed staff to play a video, which included footage of Julius Malema, the leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters party, in which Malema repeatedly exhorts followers at a rally to “kill the farmer” and “kill the Boer.”

A man is in custody after two Israeli embassy staffers – a couple who were about to become engaged – were gunned down Wednesday night outside a Jewish museum in Washington, D.C.

Police say the suspect, identified as Chicago man Elias Rodriguez, 30, chanted “free, free Palestine” following his arrest over the shooting, which occurred at 9.15pm local time after they left an event at the Capital Jewish Museum focused on helping Gazans.

The first victim has since been named as Yaron Lischinsky, 28, a political analyst who worked at Israel’s embassy in D.C.

One victim is believed to have died shortly after the attack while the second was taken to a local hospital in a critical condition where they also died. The shooting was at “close range,” a spokesperson for the embassy said.

The roof of a Ming Dynasty tower dating back more than 600 years partially collapsed in a pile of rubble in China's Fengyang county on Monday (19 May).

Eyewitness footage showed part of the historic building collapsing as tourists scrambled to flee the scene.

Local officials said tiles on the east side of the roof of the Fengyang Drum Tower fell around 6:30 p.m. local time (1030 GMT) on Monday.

The tower is more than 600 years old, constructed in 1375 during the Ming Dynasty.

Two staff members of the Israeli embassy in Washington were shot and killed Wednesday evening near a Jewish museum, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said.

Noem announced the deaths in a post on X after the shooting outside the Capital Jewish Museum, which is located steps away from the FBI’s field office in the nation's capital.

Attorney General Pam Bondi said she was at the scene with former judge Jeanine Pirro, who serves as the U.S. attorney in Washington.

A member of rap group Kneecap has been charged with a terror offence, the Metropolitan Police have said.

Liam O’Hanna, 27, who performs under the stage name Mo Chara, has been charged over the displaying of a flag in support of Hezbollah at a gig at the O2 Forum in Kentish Town, north-west London, on November 21 last year, the force said.

O’Hanna, of Belfast, was charged by postal requisition and is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 18 June, the Met said.

Officers from the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command were made aware on April 22 of an online video from the event, the force said.
