The Royal Family has shown support for the UK's Eurovision entry, Remember Monday, with a special musical tribute ahead of the grand final in Switzerland on Saturday (17 May).

Musicians from the Band of the Irish Guards played a brass rendition of "What The Hell Just Happened?" outside Buckingham Palace to wish the trio good luck in Basel.

Remember Monday, comprised of school friends Lauren Byrne, Holly-Anne Hull, and Charlotte Steele, is the first girl group to represent the country since Precious in 1999.

The Eurovision 2025 grand final will be broadcast on BBC One from 8pm.

Dramatic video shows a Royal Navy warship shooting down a supersonic missile in a “historic first” for the UK’s defence force.

HMS Dragon, a Type 45 destroyer based in Plymouth, successfully intercepted a high-speed target designed to mimic the advanced weaponry seen in recent conflicts.

The footage shows a burst of fire and smoke as the destroyer uses its Sea Viper anti-air missile system to neutralise the incoming threat, which was capable of complex "corkscrew" and "weave" manoeuvres.

The Sea Viper system enabled the Royal Navy to shoot down a ballistic missile in combat for the first time in 2024.

Popular ice cream company, Wells Enterprises, also known as Wells Dairy, has issued a voluntary recall of 22 different types of ice cream and frozen yogurt treats.

The Iowa-based company initiated the nationwide recall on April 25, citing the possible “presence of plastic” in more than 17,000 tubs of its products.

The FDA has since classified the recall as a Class II, which, according to the website, usually indicates “a situation in which use of, or exposure to, a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”

The man convicted of trying to kill Salman Rushdie has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for launching a frenzied knife attack on the author.

A New York jury deliberated for less than two hours before convicting Hadi Matar, 27, of second-degree attempted murder back in February.

British-American author Rushdie was blinded in one eye in the harrowing attack in August 2022. The attacker was also found guilty of assault for injuring Henry Reese, who was onstage with Rushdie and was about to interview the author.

Rushdie, 77, did not return to the Chautauqua County courtroom in western New York for his assailant's sentencing Friday, but submitted a victim impact statement.

Matar received the maximum 25-year sentence for the attempted murder of Rushdie and seven years for wounding Reese, who sustained a gash above his left eye that required stitches.

FC Barcelona marks its 28th La Liga title as fans gather on Placa Catalunya for a victory parade on Friday (May 16).

Barcelona secured their 28th league title on Thursday when they beat city rivals Espanyol 2-0, securing an unassailable seven-point lead over second-placed Real Madrid with two games left to play.

Following a 4-3 loss at Barcelona on Sunday, Real needed to win their final three games and hope the leaders didn't earn more than one point in the same period to maintain any mathematical chances of claiming the title.

However, their slim title hopes were dashed when Lamine Yamal curled a superb shot into the back of the net in the 53rd minute, with Fermin Lopez securing the victory by striking a ball from inside the box, assisted by Yamal, five minutes deep in stoppage time.

The result moved Hansi Flick's Barca to 85 points, seven ahead of last season's champions Real, with Atletico Madrid third on 70 points. It caps a remarkable first season at Barca for coach Hansi Flick as his side have won the La Liga and Copa del Rey double.

Authorities still have many questions after a British teenager who disappeared while travelling in Thailand before being arrested 4,000 miles away in Tbilisi, Georgia.

Bella May Culley, 18, was arrested at Tbilisi International Airport in possession of “34 hermetically sealed packages containing marijuana … as well as 20 packages of hashish”, according to local media. She had originally not been heard from since last Saturday, when she failed to check in with her mother, Lyanne Kennedy, as planned while she was travelling southeast Asia.

The Georgian interior ministry says the teenager is facing life imprisonment, which is 20 years.

A statement read: “B.K, born in 2006, is charged with illegally purchasing and storing a particularly large amount of narcotics, illegally purchasing and storing the narcotic drug marijuana, and illegally importing it into Georgia. The committed crime envisions up to 20 years – or life imprisonment.”
