Breaking-Deshaun Watson will only be suspended eleven games and fined $5 million. Apparently, Deshaun Watson was willing to pay whatever fines (per Jeremy Fowler) they wanted to get on the field quicker and the NFL let that happen. The NFL always manages to get this stuff wrong. Brock Huard joins the show to discuss Steve Levy's comments that the Broncos will be the winner of the Russell Wilson trade down the road. Plus, another edition of Ranked.

The Mariners have been playing good baseball and the pitching deserves a lot of credit for the team's success, but Salk asks why can't the M's produce on offense consistently and offers a couple theories as an explanation. Will the Mariners get 'locked in' for a post-season run? We don't know if the M's are there yet, but a sweep in mid-August can't be a bad sign. The bullpen is locked in for sure. Steve Levy (ESPN) told Brock & Salk that 5 years from now we will say the Broncos "won" the Russell Wilson trade. Salk says it's going to depend on how Russell can adapt as his legs start to decline. Brock Huard joins Salk to discuss the comments Russell made about being given the keys to the offense in Denver.

A fresh sweep for the Mariners to remain 1 1/2 games ahead in the Wild Card and it was nice to see the offense clicking on all cylinders for a change, but Salk is very stuck on the YouTube "Alt-Cast" & had some fun at the expense of the characters they had on the broadcast. Salk and Justin checked it out and apparently, they ran out of guest and content eventually. We learned that Ken Walker does not have a sports hernia, but Pete Carroll was vague as always. We revisit the conversation w/ Jeff Passan before Salk proclaiming Scott Servais should be in contention for manager of the year again.

Luis Castillo, Julio Rodriguez, Ty France...the Mariners' record is now squarely in line with the talent on the team. Brock & Salk discuss what the Mariners might do next to solidify the future of this ball club; will Julio get a contract extension before next season? How much will they pay Castillo? Is there room for Mitch Haniger?
Drew Lock's position in the quarterback battle is seemed to be shifting before testing positive for COVID, but is there a fatal flaw in his game that has prevented him from running away with the job? Salk heard an interesting piece of analysis about Lock that has Brock intrigued.
