"Specialest" of guests on the podcast, Alana, 95th episode of Milo Time, Alana reluctant to appear on Milo Time, Alana unable to complete her first attempt to record an episode, Things Milo hated could be its own list, cut fruit in water, metal silverware scratching a plate, Alana and I have been to the US Open twice this year, US Open grounds as sacred grounds, Max, Alana, and I recently went to the US Open Qualifying, Alana been going for nearly 45 years, US Open always a big day for our family, Alana had Milo on her mind all day during our most recent visit, With Milo at US Open on one crutch in 2021, Sitting in accessible seating with Milo, Watching Matteo Berrettini play Ilya Ivashka from Belarus, Milo and a random guy the only two rooting for Ivashka, Same day we bumped into Emily and Scott Medintz and watched Jannik Sinner play against Gael Monfils, "You can't stand here," Last visit to the US Open with Milo was so memorable, August/September 2021, First time Milo left the house on one crutch, So concerned for Milo's safety that day, Milo was so game, probably walked a mile or two, That day extraordinarily memorable, Staff was so lovely, Accessible parking, Tremendous work to go to the US Open, Yankee games, Nets games, movies, Milo put his shoulders back and stood a little taller when he was in the world, in places he liked to be, Max inspired us to go to Yankees games and the US Open with Milo, even though Milo was fragile at the time, Produced amazing memories for us, Milo seemed and was fragile and there was some COVID concern as well, Maybe I failed to realize how out of the ordinary the world felt to Milo, Great challenge to Milo was never feeling like himself because of the medication and because of other limitations, Australian Open when Milo was in kindergarten and Max was in second grade, Such an exciting day when we went to the US Open as a family, Planning with the boys, Ben & Jery's has been replaced by Van Leeuwen, Milo loved to watch the scores on the screens in the main plaza of the US Open, Mission command, Milo loved to track all the matches at once, First year we brought Max to the US Open we watched Donald Young play a relatively unknown Novak Djokovic, Milo's first day at the US Open we watched young Gael Monfils play an unknown Grigor Dimitrov, Thinking about how lucky we were that the boys loved tennis as much as we did, Looking over at Bethany Mattek-Sands v. Paola Hercog feeling so lucky, Watching Canadian Jesse Levine play Ukrainian Alexander Dolgopolov, Got tribal, Alana, Milo and I drove to the US Open on a lark and watched nighttime qualifying matches, Watched Ernests Gulbis and Radu Albot, Some of our dearest friends bought a plaque for Milo "Crafty Brooklyn Lefthander," Right Next to Martina Navratilova, another crafty lefthander, Please take a picture of yourself at Milo's plaque, Plaque makes the US Open grounds even more important to us, Alana's love for tennis always inspired the boys, A gift from Alana to us all, A gift that will always be with us, Seems insufficient to be focused only on tennis, but still beautiful nonetheless           

Lisa in Los Angeles, Daryl flying solo in Brooklyn recording studio, Confession, Charlie Nachsin, Milo spent an extraordinary amount of time at the Nachsin house, Beautiful text from Nurse Jenni, Max started law school, Max mentioned to us how Milo's absence seems greater when he confronts bigger matters, The greater the joy the greater the sadness and loss, Billy Bob Thornton always 50% sad, No matter what we are experiencing we are impacted in a significant way, The bigger the moment the bigger the loss, Big moments will always be difficult, Velvette, PS 321 Playground, Our home, Milo's room in our house, What do we do with these places in our neighborhood?, Charlie Nachsin one of Milo's best friends, Martin Nachsin, Jonny Nachsin, Marie Nachsin, Jonas Nachsin, Max and Milo spent countless hours at the Nachsin home, Nachsin house was the place the boys went most often, Milo spent thousands of hours at the Nachsin house with the people most important to him, Milo cooking his friends at ping pong, Milo did everything at the Nachsin house, What do we do with the places Milo sat, touched? Some moved in the wake of the death of a child, Others could not move, for exactly the same reason, Milo's room looks exactly as it did the day he left the house the last time, What do we do with the room now?, Places in our neighborhood that were important to Milo are similarly difficult, Every inch on our block is meaningful, We suffer the loss every day, Milo's tree in Prospect Park, GreenWood, Reminders of Milo everywhere, Connecticut Muffin recently went out of business, Time moving on with Milo not being a part of those changes  

Brooklyn, NYC subways gripes, To Love is to be Brave TED Talk by Kelly Corrigan, Being aggressively present for a friend in need, Our superheroes are present, Superheroes are the people who do things quietly and for the right reasons, In someone's face, The difficulty of being present sometimes, Covid and Milo's treatment limited our friends' ability to be present, There's no reward for small gestures beyond having done a beautiful thing for a friend, Lisa notes the healthy selfishness of certain gestures, Arvydas Sabonis, Domantas Sabonis, Arvydas played for the Trailblazers, Domantas played for Gonzaga, the Pacers, and now for the Sacramento Kings, Milo developed deep relationships with people who helped care for him at Memorial Sloan Kettering, Sabonis was a nickname we gave to a physical therapist who helped Milo after his knee/fibula, tibia surgery AND after his lung surgery, Quiet support and help, Looked like Domantas Sabonis, Alana, Max, and I remember physical therapist named Timmy, Physical therapist in the physical therapy department at Memorial Sloan Kettering (attended Northeastern), Nurse Jenni was so important to Milo, Jenni would seek out Milo and we think Milo had a crush on her, Jenni was amazing, Milo was thrilled to have Jenni on his team, Nurse Littlepage was also wonderful with Milo, Biggest differences made by some of the least appreciated, least well-paid people, Dr. Adam Levy was a wonderful adviser at Montefiore, Dr. Julia Glade-Bender was a wonderful doctor and supprt, Timmy, Jenni, Sabonis, Nurse Littlepage, How much is a public school teacher worth in your life, Choosing to be a nurse in the pediatric department at Memorial Sloan Kettering, Incredible people only, Deeply underappreciated, undercompensated, and undervalued, What does it mean to say a person is successful?, Who are more important than nurses and teachers, This is a way to say thank you to some of those people

Studio B, Upper West Side, Isabel Hillman, Natural soundproofing, Anything can be a studio, Breaking from tradition, Daryl picks the Thing Milo Loved, Velvette is a coffee shop on the corner of 1st Street and 5th Avenue in Park Slope, Brooklyn, Velvette didn't mean much to us when it arrived a number of years ago, Velvette was just another coffee shop, Milo always had a taste for coffee, even when he was treating, Milo had had significant surgeries to his knee, tibia, and tibia, all of which compromised his mobility the rest of his life, Velvette became extremely important to us and to Milo. Velvette was near enough to allow Milo to access it, even when he was severely limited, We went to Velvette at least 2 or 3 days per week (or more), We would sit and have coffee and play cards, We became friendly with Kyril, the owner, and Ian, his business partner, Kyril and Ian were always very generous and caring towards Milo, Offered to take up a fund for Milo, Example of a place that was not unique, until it was, Eventually meant a lot to us, along with the people there, It was difficult for Milo to get across the street with the WALK sign, which gave us an appreciation for compromised or older people, Also an appreciation for how big an achievement small things can be, After Milo died, Kyril and Ian brought us coffee and pastries for days, Ian brought a Nets t-shirt and bourbon, Things and people become more meaningful after tragedy, We developed an amazing connection with them, What do we do with these places that became so meaningful to us and played such a big role in Milo's life at any time?, 321 Playground, What do we do with those places that Milo loved, with people who Milo, we, and Max came to love?, We make decisions as grievers every day, Divergent opinions from grieving people, Differing opinions on travel, for example, Divergent opinions on moving from the house, Please share your thoughts on the subject @milotimepodcast, Daryl to discuss the issue further, hopefully with input from our listening audience, Velvette as a segue to bigger issues, What do we do with places that our children loved and that now confront us every day, No answers but the questions are worthwhile, Visit Velvette and tell Ian and Kyril that Milo sent you
