This MindEspresso is about the need and the purpose for #selfcompassion in your life. Recently an old friend (who I hadn’t talked to in some 10 years) took his own life. He was one of the most talented people I’d ever met, yet he never seemed to measure up to his own expectations. It made me reflect on one of the most profound insights I came across in my 5 years of podcast interviews with thought leaders: that self-compassion is a prerequisite for high performance and happiness. https://lnkd.in/etAsTZ3
Without self-compassion, you create anxiety, unneeded suffering and performance blocks. Lack of self-compassion can make you feel stuck and alone, prevent a healthy growth mindset, blind you to positive choices and sap you from motivations that move you forward. In a team setting, lack of self-compassion can cause cycles of self-pity and blame.
This MindEspresso on self-compassion looks at work by Dr. Andy Walshe, the former head of the Red Bull high-performance team, Kristen Neff, the author of Self-compassion, and Eckard Tolle, the author of the Power of Now.
