Gang, today is a very special day! Today’s episode officially marks my 100th podcast of 2023. I couldn’t be more excited to reach this milestone; it’s taken a lot of work to get there. Regardless, I am very proud on a day like this. Podcasting has consumed a majority of my free time this year, which is perfectly fine in my book. It is an art form that I’ve fallen deeply in love with. The process of communicating ideas and thoughts continuously inspires me to pave this road further. Also, there have been a lot of changes to my podcasting method this year: 2 shows a week, scheduling episode releases in advance, and scheduling my work hours/days at least 2 months in advance. This is a ball I intend to keep rolling! With that said, I wanted to sit down and reflect on my journey with podcasting up to this point. Thank you to everyone who has tuned in; I promise that all the love and support have filled my heart with joy. I cannot wait to finish this year out strong! Today’s review comes from my most recent read - A Brief History of Robert Oppenheimer - From Quantum Mechanics to the Atomic Bomb: A Journey Through the Manhattan Project and Beyond by Albert Neutron. I’ve always carried a deep fascination with the development of the atomic bomb; I chose to look further into the man who was responsible for its creation. Robert Oppenheimer changed the future of humanity on July 16th, 1945, at 5:29 am. At the Trinity Test site in New Mexico, the first atomic bomb—with the explosive force of 40,000,000lbs of dynamite—was detonated just before dawn. This event successfully occurred because of the Manhattan Project, headed by Oppenheimer himself. Today, I break down some of the major timelines and events laid out by Neutron that occurred throughout Oppenheimer’s life, including his early years, education, personal development, his role in the Manhattan Project, and life post-atomic bomb. Neutron dives into the details that made Robert Oppenheimer the man and historical figure he was. The entire book was a compelling analysis from start to finish. Today’s episode of Top of Mind was recorded on my way home from work. The topic is on the development of the atomic bomb and how it relates to human evolution. If I could go back in history for a day, my day would be July 16th, 1945. I’d love to be at the Trinity Test site in New Mexico at exactly 5:29am. That date and time marked the first detonation of the atomic bomb - code named, “Gadget”. On that day, 6,000,000 years of human evolution and conflict came to a pinnacle point; we finally developed a weapon powerful enough to destroy the human race. From rocks and spears, to swords and shields, to muskets and cannons, to machine guns and planes, and to the age of nuclear warfare—we’ve reached the epitome of human conflict. This is why I’d go back in history to that day, to witness the moment when we created our own demise.

Happy Birthday, Mom! Today, I wanted to take a minute to honor you and reflect on our relationship. We’ve been down a long road together; I know I wasn’t easy to raise, but you did an amazing job. You’ve taught me many things throughout my life that serve me on a daily basis - compassion, problem solving, time management, overseeing day to day functions, and perseverance. I couldn’t be more appreciative of the traits you’ve passed down; I found out how valuable they were when I became a parent. You are an awesome mom, so I wanted to dedicate this episode to you and appreciate all you do/have done for me. Enjoy your big day! We will see you later tonight to celebrate. I love you very much.

Happy Halloween, gang! Unfortunately, today is the last day of our favorite month of the year. This October has been loaded with seasonal activities such as pumpkin patches, corn mazes, caramel apples, bonfires, autumn hikes, and Trick-or-Treating. Overall, our schedules remained booked. Before we say goodbye to this beautiful time of the year, I wanted to sit down behind the mic and openly reflect on what this season and holiday mean to us. We hate to see it go, but it leaves us hungry for next October. I hope you all have a great Halloween! Stay safe out there and thank you for tuning in!

Today is a sad day, folks. With the release of the October compilation page, we’ve officially waved goodbye to the fall season. That is always tough on us; we cherish every minute of fall and the seasonal activities it provides. Nevertheless, we’ve had a great time these past couple of months! There was something to look forward to each weekend; no shortage of adventures on our plate. We had a laundry list of celebrations as well: my birthday trip to Michigan, my father’s 52nd birthday, Red Velvet Photography’s 100th Exposure page, getting my “Velvet Messiah” tattoo, and Halloween. As we approach winter, I wanted to sit down and take one last moment to appreciate what an amazing season we’ve had. The next 5-6 months of Wisconsin snowfall is about to change life as we know it, so we will enjoy these last few days of clear skies and scenic color. Cheers to another successful Spooky Season!

Good morning! On today’s episode I ponder how humans use man-made systems of measurement in an attempt to understand our universe with a strong degree of certainty. However, we forget that concepts such as time, distance, and “universal” laws are relevant only to human beings; we made them up a long time ago to rationalize our physical reality. Therefore, their respective units of measurement are also made up; the only place these terms actually exist in practice are on this rock that we call Earth. There is no such thing as a “mile” to other life forms - it is a unit of measurement that was devised by us, for us. The same can be said about a millimeter, inch, pound, quarter-cup, second, hour, day, month, year, etc. The implementation of these systems of symbols and values has helped us obtain a better understanding of some of the things around us, but we have to be careful with our claims and understand that knowing something with absolute “certainty” is hardly the case. We must acknowledge that we are too primitive in our evolution to truly comprehend the vastness and complexity of our universe, let alone put an artificial value on it.

Today’s episode was recorded while on an evening countryside cruise with my wife, Kristin. After recently purchasing my first Fitbit, Kristin and I were discussing how impressive the technological features were. It wasn’t long before we started pondering how advanced Fitbit technology might become in the future—soon followed by a broader discussion about how advanced ALL technology may become. For better or worse, human technological advancements will continue to evolve and grow more complex in their function. What does that mean for us? What will the future look like as our technological capabilities expand? It’s hard to imagine what that world would look like, let alone what it would be like. Either way, the trend will always continue - more advanced technologies will be developed and implemented into our lives—eventually replacing what we are accustomed to while changing reality as we know it.

Well folks, this is our biggest release of this year; by far our most significant page so far. As of today’s post, Red Velvet Photography is pleased to announce that we’ve reached 100 Exposure pages! It has been an incredibly rewarding road since this project has started and I have been blessed to do it alongside the best team in the world! We wanted to celebrate this occasion the best way possible - a weekend retreat in the Upper Peninsula. Michigan has always been our number one choice when it comes to traveling, so why not? We enjoy every bit of silence and remoteness the territory has to offer. We had an full agenda for the weekend that was filled with some of our favorite hiking locations: Dave’s Falls, Piers-Gorge, and Fumee Lake. We also partook in our first Michigan corn maze by going to the Getzloff Farm; what a treat that was! Overall, our time spent up north was absolutely perfect. I’d like to thank Kristin for making our experience the best it could possibly be! I’d also like to thank Kylle and Kristin for their amazing work on our Exposure page; I couldn’t do it without you guys. I cannot wait to see where our future takes us! One thing is for sure, I am the luckiest man in the world to be able to share this journey with the people I love. Here’s to our next 100!

Today, I grabbed the handheld recorder to jot some thoughts down as I pondered Red Velvet Photography's latest accomplishments - posting our first 100 Exposure pages and reaching 20,000 views. This was big news to us; it has been a long road to get to this point. In terms of popularity, these numbers mean nothing to us--we couldn't care less how many people are watching or listening. To us, these numbers are important because they symbolize the growth and evolution of an initial idea that started back in January of 2020. Over the course of nearly 4 years, we have used our Exposure platform to share the pictures and stories of the adventures we share together! Kylle, Kristin, and I are honored to have the opportunity to work together and to be a part of each other's journeys. We make a great team; I look forward to the future of Red Velvet Photography!
