Welcome back! Today, I ponder the absurdity of human conflict - our “natural” propensity to fight amongst ourselves rather than unite. I believe that our conflict stems from us not having a clear understanding of our place in this universe, let alone this rock we call Earth. We fail to acknowledge that this planet is nothing more than a giant rock floating endlessly through outer space. On a much, much, much smaller scale it’s similar to what an island would be to the ocean. But whether it’s seen as a planet floating through space or an island in the middle of the ocean, the fact is that our existence is confined to one place - a rock that we are all stuck on. So with that in mind, shouldn’t we be making this “rock” the best place it could possibly be? That should have been all of the reasons necessary to treat our fellow man better; each of us has been confined to the same fate. Instead, we turned on each other. We divided our land and ourselves; that was the birthplace of human conflict. We began fighting over resources, beliefs, and power. Along the line, we failed to remember that we are all one and were meant to remain that way. I fear that until we wake up to that fact, the people stuck on this rock will always be doomed to a cycle of never-ending conflict.
