Why I love sports

Promise: the lessons I have learned from years of participating In and watching sports from a family of 5 boys that eat sleep and dream sports

Proof: lessons from my own experience ranging from baseball, football, track, to MMA and extreme endurance sports

Plan: I plan to share with you my personal lessons and story and then 5 key valuable insights that sports teach us overall about life

The cheesy stuff that is actually very important like: discipline, teamwork, dedication, how to acquire a skill set, competitiveness, fairness, all these one off words of virtue and value. #1 words of value

Hard work pays off

Failure is a part of life, all we can do is keep moving forward

We can only control 2 things in life (attitude and effort) E+R=O

How wide is a plate? Aka standards for living.

In todays episode I share a talk that I gave to my Christian congregation about my passion being taken away from me and the lessons I learned overcoming this trial.

I do not share all of the details but I hope that you can get some value and live a better life through this message.

There are SO many stories of Jesus Christ himself demonstrating patience. His whole life, the woman caught in adultery, people always rushing him and crowding him, 40 DAY FAST! But I think that his greatest show of patience is with us, his little brothers and sisters.

The three secrets

1: trust God and His timing

2: perspective is everything

3: reliance on Jesus Christ

The patience we need is in our daily lives and in what we may label as “boring” doing the boring (the little things) by small and simple things great things are brought to pass. By doing the small and meanial things we can grow in patience, faith, hope, and charity.

Alma 7:23

“23 And now I would that ye should be humble, and be submissive and gentle; easy to be entreated; full of patience and long-suffering; being temperate in all things; being diligent in keeping the commandments of God at all times; asking for whatsoever things ye stand in need, both spiritual and temporal; always returning thanks unto God for whatsoever things ye do receive.

24 And see that ye have faith, hope, and charity, and then ye will always abound in good works.”

Ty Bird experienced a traumatizing brain injury that completely reset his life and he had to relearn how to walk and talk again. He was serving a mission and crashed his bike resulting in a total shut down of his mind and body. He went to 100s of doctors and nobody could help him until he finally got the help that he needed with a brain rehab specialist.

He originally wanted be an engineer but after he was able to recover his passions completely changed to a desire to learn how to serve others and help people that have similar trauma to the head and thus his love for the human mind and Neurology was born.

Ty Bird recently graduated with his degree in Neuroscience from BYU-Idaho and is now furthering his studies in Dallas Texas at Parker University studying functional Neurology.
