In todays episode I share a talk that I gave to my Christian congregation about my passion being taken away from me and the lessons I learned overcoming this trial.
I do not share all of the details but I hope that you can get some value and live a better life through this message.
Joke: don’t pray for patience..
President Eyring said that everyone is going through a trial. Be patient through the good and the bad.
Intro: I am going to share 4 stories that contain the 3 secrets to patience and trust in Gods plan/timing
1: my mission story
2: Joseph Smith D&C 121:7-10
3: cathedral
If we were to ask the pioneer saints as they built the temple
4: Jesus patience story
1 Timothy 1:16
“15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
16 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.”
There are SO many stories of Jesus Christ himself demonstrating patience. His whole life, the woman caught in adultery, people always rushing him and crowding him, 40 DAY FAST! But I think that his greatest show of patience is with us, his little brothers and sisters.
The three secrets
1: trust God and His timing
2: perspective is everything
3: reliance on Jesus Christ
being thrown in jail vs going to college
The patience we need is in our daily lives and in what we may label as “boring” doing the boring (the little things) by small and simple things great things are brought to pass. By doing the small and meanial things we can grow in patience, faith, hope, and charity.
Alma 7:23
“23 And now I would that ye should be humble, and be submissive and gentle; easy to be entreated; full of patience and long-suffering; being temperate in all things; being diligent in keeping the commandments of God at all times; asking for whatsoever things ye stand in need, both spiritual and temporal; always returning thanks unto God for whatsoever things ye do receive.
24 And see that ye have faith, hope, and charity, and then ye will always abound in good works.”
Promise. Not from me but from God and the prophets.
