Welcome back ladies. In honor of Minority Mental Health Awareness month, I wanted to have an episode dedicated to what mental health is and why it's important. Growing up in an African American household, some of us were raised thinking we didn't need a therapist and that feeling like you need someone to talk to, to discuss your negative emotions is a bad thing. A lot of African American families suppress their emotions and have a form of self medicating which only band aids the problems they're having. It's time we take our mental health more seriously and be ok with needing to talk to someone that can guide us so that we can develop positive ways to handle stress and express ourselves.
