  • Episode 15 – The Entertainment Trap
Of course there’s absolutely nothing wrong with mindlessly sitting around and watching television or playing video games when you know there are more productive things you would like to experience with your short life. So why do we make ourselves feel so guilty for it?
Brian and Cory discuss the conscious consumption of entertainment, and the difference between using media as a form of escapism and deliberately using it as a form of enrichment. At the end of the episode, you’ll hear their responses to their reading of Anton Chekhov’s “The Bet” in Episode 14.

  • Episode 13 – What’s the Pointology? With Cara Caterson
Mindfulness of Doom’s number one fan Cara Caterson has coffee with Cory and discuss college, made up religions, depression, and cosmic clowns.  Physics!  It’s the study of how the universe works!  Cory has a degree in physics granted to him by the University of YouTube, but Cara actually studies physics in college.    So naturally, they argue about it.  Cory gives unsolicited advice on the nature of doing that which we don’t want/like to do and Cara calls him old.
Depression is a complicated sickness.  Cara and Cory talk about their struggles with the darkness and share their theories about who to blame when the universe hides your keys.  Cory opens up about his prickliness and his personal practice of learning to tolerate and learn from those who have beliefs that lean in a less than scientific direction.

  • Episode 12 – Modest or Just Broke with Arianne Traverso
Yoga Expo Owner Arianne Traverso joins us to share about how she combines her business acumen with her spiritual side as a yoga teacher. Misconceptions about modesty and humility lead many in the spiritual community to shun the value of wealth at the cost of their own financial well-being, perpetuating the feeling that we need to struggle for survival.
This pervasive mentality, however, also contradicts the value of abundance which can be heard gracing the lips of pretty much every modern yoga teacher ever. Brian, Cory, and Arianne discuss wealth, not in terms of the checking account, but in terms of mindset. In this episode, we discover the conflicting beliefs that blind us to our own potential for success and rob us of the opportunity to make a greater impact in the world.
What sets well known spiritual teachers apart from their broke counterparts, and how can those who are struggling authentically preach spiritual well-being? What would the world actually look like if yogis had all the wealth? Stay tuned.
“If more yogis could be millionaires, I guarantee the world would be in better shape.”
