This evening Rabbi Whitman's delivers his annual Shabbat HaGadol address where we discuss the mysteries and ambiguous symbolism of Charoses (the symbolic food on our Seder plate, and the subject of Mah Nishtaneh, and eaten - or not eaten - with Marror/bitter herbs), making sense of the wildly divergent recipes we find. We then present a new approach, partially based on Tosfos and Shir HaShirim (Song of Songs) which results in an original, delicious recipe, with a momentous symbolism.
