The Herle Burly was created by Air Quotes Media with support from our presenting sponsor TELUS, as well as CN Rail.
We’ll get right to it because we have a cabinet minister in the house today, and I don’t like to keep cabinet ministers waiting: The Honourable Marc Miller, Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations.
First elected as a Member of Parliament in 2015, Mr. Miller was a lawyer prior to entering politics … specializing in international and commercial law … working in Montréal, Stockholm, and New York City. Previous to that, he served as an infantry soldier in the Canadian Armed Forces. And he made history in 2017 when he delivered a statement in the House of Commons entirely in Mohawk … the first time the language had been spoken in either the House or Senate since Confederation.
Today on the pod:
*NOTE: This interview was recorded on Monday, July 24, 2023, before the Prime Minister shuffled his cabinet on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, which resulted in Minister Miller leaving his previous portfolio and assuming the role of Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship.
