  • ATLANTIQUE NORD de Yann Tiersen (Cover)
    https://3speak.tv/watch?v=minuetoacademy/izdidzxj

Continue the journey exploring the compositions of Yann Tiersen. For this week I bring a piece that is part of the soundtrack of the movie _Tabarly_, a beautiful song titled ATLANTIQUE NORD.

Before expressing what I feel when performing this piece, I want to talk to you about _Tabarly_ and _Alantique Nord_. Traversing the cinematic waters of 'Tabarly' is to immerse yourself in an intimate and nostalgic journey through the life of the legendary French navigator, Eric Tabarly. The film, directed by Pierre Marcel, captivates not only with Tabarly's fascinating story, but also with the emotional soundtrack that brings it to life. Among the compositions that weave the narrative, the melodic and evocative piece 'Atlantique Nord' by my esteemed composer, Yann Tiersen, stands out.
Every chord of this musical masterpiece seems to reflect the vast expanses of the Atlantic Ocean, highlighting the deep connection between the sailor and the sea. The synergy between cinematography and music creates an immersive experience, where emotions flow to the rhythm of the waves, leaving a lasting impression on the viewer, as eternal as the sea horizon that Tabarly always bravely challenged.
Now yes, I will write about what this piece produces in me. When playing "Atlantique Nord" by Yann Tiersen, I experience an amalgamation of emotions that transports me to a unique soundscape. Each note is like a wave that envelops me, taking me to the depths of an emotional ocean. Melancholy and hope intertwine in each chord, creating a feeling of vulnerability and beauty. It's as if the piano keys were windows to a vast and mysterious horizon. I feel the Atlantic breeze caressing my skin as I immerse myself in the complexity of the composition. Tiersen's music, and in particular "Atlantique Nord", manages to resonate in the depths of my being, awakening a unique connection with the very essence of artistic expression.
If I had to summarize in two words what this work makes me feel, I would say -deep and beautiful-.
Before saying goodbye, I want to thank you for reaching the end of this publication, and I would like to know how this musical theme made you feel and if I managed to produce in you at least a brief moment of peace with this interpretation.

  • Childhood II de Yann Tiersen (Cover)
    https://3speak.tv/watch?v=minuetoacademy/bnburjrn
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9h4BJm0z08

After last week's interruption, I return to exploring the work of Yann Tiersen. In this installment I will play with my fingers _"Childhood II"_, I will tell you what this _Nouvelle chanson_ has made me feel and I will do a brief musical analysis of the work.
_Childhood II_, recorded in 2002, was conceived as music for film. This work is part of the soundtrack of "Goodbye Lenin!", a dramatic comedy directed by _Wolfgang Becker_ that takes place in the context of the fall of the Berlin Wall (1989).
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9h4BJm0z08
Playing this work connects me with my inner child. The melodic motif that Yann Tiersen employs in "Childhood II" actually relates to the name of the work. Both the simple rhythm and the intervals used (2nd and 3rd) are those commonly used to compose children's songs, since children sing them more easily. This, added to the repetition of the parts and the harmonic simplicity, transmits a clear feeling of tenderness and nostalgia that easily takes us back to childhood.
My brief musical analysis. This work has its tonal center in G minor, at the end of the cyclical chord progression, Yann Tiersen uses the minor harmonic function of the 5th degree (Dm) in its second inversion. This harmonic treatment suggests that the work was composed in the key of G natural minor (Aeolian mode). It uses an indicator figure of 4/4 and seems to be constituted, despite always using the same harmonic cycle, of three parts (ABA), distinguishing A from B by the use of different melodic-rhythmic material.

  • Reencuentro (Original Song)
    https://3speak.tv/watch?v=minuetoacademy/yewslvfr
    ![Imagen1.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/minuetoacademy/243BnhvYJKjn4j4YXTPqsLNgcKiDyGUYVE9Yq5rDKknm4rjED3gdtamvWLRTF8oP2vGcG.png)

Last week, an unforeseen trip prevented me from fulfilling my weekly posting rhythm exploring the work of Yann Tiersen. In this post I want to tell you why I decided to publish a work of my authorship and what inspired me to compose it.
Last week we received good news here at home, something we had been waiting for for a long time was finally going to happen. It was necessary for us to travel to the capital to get everything going. After many efforts we were finally able to achieve the objective, to let the matter go. But our trip did not end there, now unemployed, we had the opportunity to meet part of the family again; with my brother and my nephews.
After several years without seeing each other, the meeting was very emotional. It was there that I reflected and realized how important it is to maintain close ties with family. The blood that unites us is a sacred bond that we cannot ignore. Despite differences and distances, family ties provide us with unconditional support and a unique emotional connection.
It's easy to get carried away with daily busyness and responsibilities. Sometimes we forget about those who were always there for us, who truly know us and accept us as we are. But when we finally meet again, we realize how valuable that connection is and how much we have missed it.
    ![Snapshot_153.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/minuetoacademy/23tbPi7FyA9MtWhvUbCwP2KyvKn7k2sVnAfxsVRaCaiXM1tqErrWdGQqT7tG7n3fntqhA.png)
All the emotions resulting from that reunion inspired me to compose the piece that I play today on the piano and that I wanted to title in the same way _Reencuentro_.
Before saying goodbye, I want to take the opportunity to thank you for reaching the end of this publication, and I would also like to know what you think of what I have expressed here and how this song made you feel.

  • "Le Matin" de Yann Tiersen (Cover)
    https://3speak.tv/watch?v=minuetoacademy/lldrytvi
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etLa1xipu0g
    ![Snapshot_153.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/minuetoacademy/23t79395FkSecp9isC55Dh76tBMx9mom9EvtAm3AbWARmDFuAbBDb2xHX6Gy6kJs6ZC7i.png)

A couple of days ago, another score by maestro Yann Tiersen, _Le Matin_, came into my hands, a piece that I found beautiful and hypnotic. Today I not only want to play it for you, I also want to share with you my analysis of the work and what it has made me feel when interpreting it.
"Le Matin" has been composed in the key of E flat major and flows through a texture of accompanied melody. The accompaniment is a hypnotic _ostinato_ with the distinctive rhythm of a syncopation that accompanies the melody from beginning to end. For its part, the melodic motif is presented simply in the central register from the beginning of the piece. Throughout the work the motif will be enriched with rhythmic and pitch variations, among others.
_Les Retrouvailles_ is the name given to Yann Tiersen's fifth album, released on the market in 2005; _Le Matin (The Morning)_, is song number 8 of the aforementioned album. Without a doubt I want to start every morning with the peace and serenity that this _Nouvelle Chanson_ transmits to me.
Let's paint life with love. This work makes me think that every day is a blank canvas that we can paint in a unique and special way. It is therefore advisable to look for beautiful colors full of life to paint beautiful landscapes. But where to find them all together, is there a palette that contains them all? Yeah! the palette of love.
My final and personal comment is that "Le Matin" is one of those songs that I can listen to over and over again without getting tired, and that always manages to convey that feeling of tranquility and serenity that I appreciate so much in my life. Performing this work disconnects me from the outside world, it simply takes me to a warm and loving place.
Before saying goodbye, I want to take the opportunity to thank you for having reached the end of this publication, and I also want to ask you what emotions you have experienced when listening to my interpretation.

  • "La dispute" de Yann Tiersen (Cover)
    https://3speak.tv/watch?v=minuetoacademy/tzsbgiwv
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjXLvxjRbi4
    ![Snapshot_153.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/minuetoacademy/23tGe1KTojJBNXURSdFhhAMcvBr23TDW8S4uYNZGpQ67HYvHVfUdjRBSknURA96YSjVjs.png)

My adventure exploring the work of Yann Tiersen continues. In this post I perform _"La dispute"_ and I want to tell you my impressions about this iconic piece by maestro Tiersen, the sounds I used to give life to this piece with a particular touch and the things that happened to me while making this recording.
"La dispute"; authentic French sound. This piece, which is part of the soundtrack of the film "Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain", is performed, in its original version, with an accordion solo at the beginning (Tiersen also began it with a melodica), to my seem, melancholic and romantic, evoking and capturing, with its melodic and harmonic turns, nostalgia in the best French style.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjXLvxjRbi4
This work catches you. The teacher manages to generate an expectation from the first bars because the harmony starts in the tonic (E flat) and then introduces the secondary dominant of the sixth degree (V7/vi) in its second inversion, which suggests that the next chord will be C minor (vi), but no, it capriciously returns to the chord of _E flat_ (I). This initial game already anticipates to the listener that the piece will become interesting in the following bars, trapping him irremediably.
"La dispute" with my personal touch. In this installment I wanted not only to worry about contributing something from an interpretive point of view, I also wanted to experiment with sound. In this search I wanted to incorporate LoFi sounds and not limit myself only to the timbre of a piano. To achieve this I divided the keyboard into two sections, configuring the left part with a LoFi piano from the brand _Quite Music_, and the right part with a synth from the house _Arturia_. Finally I added, in post-production, sounds recorded on the street somewhere and an audio of a fire burning. All this allowed me to provide timbral variety, achieving something different without betraying, in my opinion, the spirit of the work.
    ![Snapshot_153.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/minuetoacademy/23tGe1KTojJBNXURSdFhhAMcvBr23TDW8S4uYNZGpQ67HYvHVfUdjRBSknURA96YSjVjs.png)
Just when I was halfway through recording, my phone decided to run out of memory. When I produce my videos, I record audio and video separately, the first is recorded in the DAW and the second is recorded on my cell phone and then synchronized. While I was recording, I heard the little sound that my cell phone makes when it stops recording video, and then I knew! Oh, no... catastrophe; He ran out of memory! Despite this I continued with the recording...
Although at first I was a little frustrated that I couldn't record the entire video continuously, in the end I realized that this was also part of the adventure. Things don't always go as planned, but the important thing is to adapt and find creative solutions.
This is how my video performing "La dispute" by Yann Tiersen ended up being a mix of the video of my own performance and a video fragment from Pixabay. Although it is not perfect, I was happy with the result and at the same time it remains a testimony of my determination to overcome the obstacles.
To finish this publication, I want to thank you for staying until the end, and before saying goodbye, I want to ask you if you think I have betrayed the spirit of the work performed or if, on the contrary, you found it interesting and appropriate.

  • "Coma" de Yann Tiersen (Cover)
    https://3speak.tv/watch?v=minuetoacademy/vovfmylk

As I explained in a [recent post](https://peakd.com/hive-105786/@minuetoacademy/yyjxqfld), I recently discovered the music of Yann Tiersen and was amazed. I found his brief style, minimalist and at the same time emotional, captivating. I think his music communicates emotions and moods very effectively. Interpreting his works is entering a bubble from which one does not want to leave.
As a composer I feel very identified with his way of composing, I connect with the rhythmic and melodic simplicity of his works, because it always seems like a challenge to make a composition deep and communicative starting only from simple ideas. In my opinion Yann Tiersen achieves this successfully.
The work that led Tiersen to be known worldwide was the composition of the soundtrack of the French film [_The Fabulous Destiny of Amélie Poulain_](https://con2bemolesradio.com/amelie/), but in this regard, Eric Satie of At this time, he declared the following for the _Semana_ portal in November 2016:
    >"It is more accurate to say that my music has been used in films, since I have only composed an original soundtrack for the fiction film 'Good Bye Lenin', and an original soundtrack for the documentary 'Tabarly', about a sailor and French sailor. The rest have been tracks and music taken from my previous works." [Source](https://www.semana.com/cultura/articulo/yann-tiersen-compositor-de-la-musica-de-amelie-habla-sobre-eusa/505367/)
And later in the interview he indicated that the music used in the film _Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain_ was composed 6 years before its filming, so his music had nothing to do with the film.
Anyway, despite everything he expressed in that interview, there are many who agree that his music was somehow predestined to be the iconic soundtrack of _Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain_.
But in this post I have come to share with you not a piece of music used for the film _Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain_, but a small work belonging to the soundtrack composed for [Good Bye Lenin!](https://www.lahiguera.net/cinemania/pelicula/697/sinopsis.php), _"Coma"_. This work, which is completely in line with the plot of the film, seems to stop time and at the same time impregnate everything with a strange uncertainty.
To conclude, I want to express that I am currently exploring the work of maestro Yann Tiersen and I hope to be able to return soon with more of his compositions. And before saying goodbye I want to ask you if you liked this publication and how this piece made you feel.

Greetings to all in this week 178 of the "Hive Open Mic", in which I return to the piano to interpret a waltz by Yann Tiersen entitled _Dernière_ (last).
I have discovered this composer's music recently, before I had heard something from him but had not paid due attention. For me it has been a discovery and a delight to delve into his work after finding by chance several scores of his music. Yann Tiersen is considered by some, as I mentioned in the introduction to the video, as the Erik Satie of our time, and that is because his work, despite tending towards the austerity of minimalism, far from being superficial, is deep and exciting. .
Being the theme of this week "People" I wanted to not only play and share his music, I also wanted to add a brief biography of Tiersen because he is a very special musician and person that everyone should know.
Yann Tiersen is a renowned French musician and composer born on June 23, 1970 in Brest, France. Tiersen began his musical training from an early age, learning to play the piano and violin. At the age of 13, he began experimenting with various musical genres and composing his own songs.
His success came in 1997, when he composed the soundtrack for the film "Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain" (The Fabulous Fate of Amélie Poulain), directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet. This soundtrack, characterized by its melancholic and romantic style, earned him international recognition and a César Award nomination in France.
Throughout his career, Yann Tiersen has released several solo albums, exploring different genres such as rock, instrumental music, and experimental music. His music is characterized by his ability to mix melancholic melodies with electronic sounds, creating a unique and distinctive style.
In addition to his work as a composer, Tiersen is also known for his activism on issues such as immigrant rights and environmental protection. He has participated in solidarity projects and has collaborated with non-profit organizations to promote social and environmental causes.
I hope you had a nice time with this publication, but before I say goodbye, I want to ask you if you already knew Yann Tiersen and how did this piece you just heard make you feel?

  • Hive Open Mic Week 177 || Ábranse Los Cielos (cover song)
    https://3speak.tv/watch?v=minuetoacademy/okxgkmfw
Greetings and blessings to all in this week 177 of the "Hive Open Mic". Today, stepping out of my comfort zone, I'm going to sing a French Christmas carol by _Nöel Suisse_ entitled "Open the Heavens".
This little song is a very beautiful praise to the Lord who, as the lyrics sing it, is our Redeemer and Savior. I want to tell you that when I started reading this song, and after not singing for so long, I realized that I must go back to my vocalization and breathing routines, so to speak, my voice got out of place. I have tried to do my best because the work is worth the effort, although it is brief and simple, it is very beautiful and transmits a lot of sweetness and tender calm.
One of the reasons why I rarely record singing performances is because of the annoying ambient noise that creeps into the mic whenever I try. To avoid that, this time I have used some processors from Izotope, and although the noise was almost completely gone, the processor also eliminated some "r", but despite this I preferred to publish it like this, because the noise it is less desirable than that small detail. With practice I will improve this and other aspects for the next presentations. :)
I hope this little praise to the Lord is a nice way to remember the need we have for Him. But before I say goodbye, I want to ask you, what does this song transmit to you?
Below I leave the lyrics and one of the versions of this theme.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hqxvozxf1E
    >Abrasé lo cielos, lluevan al mesías.
Que es nuestro consuelo, nuestro Redentor.
    >Los collados cantan "ven ya, Salvador"
    Los sedientos prados "Llega, Redentor"
    >Y el erial sin río
    Pide ya el rocío
    >Abrasé lo cielos, lluevan al mesías.
Que es nuestro consuelo, nuestro Redentor.

  • Hive Open Mic Week 176 || Canción sin Palabras (Gratitud) - Original Song
    https://3speak.tv/watch?v=minuetoacademy/kkwtsqwt
A big greeting to all the members of my dear "Hive Open Mic" community. In this week 176 I want to share a _song without words_ dedicated to "Gratitude"
In this work I try to reflect that despite difficult situations there is always something for which we can be thankful. The work has two key points that try to reflect what happens when we are grateful. The first of them is found in the middle of the work with a variation of mode, there the reason that had always sounded in a minor key is shown in a major mode, with this I seek to represent what happens when we are grateful; we begin to perceive reality in a positive, more pleasant and bearable way, that is, gratitude, as well as faith, hope and love, has the power to change the way we perceive reality. The second key point is found in the finale, when unexpectedly a major chord sounds that reflects all the good feelings that arise from gratitude.
We must not allow ourselves to be disturbed by anything; rather, at all times, let us be open to faith and prayer, trust in God and always give thanks. Thus the peace of God that surpasses all understanding, will always remain in our hearts and in our thoughts.
I hope that, added to the spirit of this week, this piece will be an invitation for all of us to put our trust in God and a reminder that gratitude can do us a lot of good on this journey we call life. But before I say goodbye, I want to ask you, how did this song make you feel?
    ### Peace and good!

    https://3speak.tv/watch?v=minuetoacademy/ftvwfykn
A big hello to all members of my esteemed "Hive Open Mic" community. The theme proposed for this week #175, has a lot of meaning for me and inspired me to compose a small piece for piano that I wanted to title "Light of my soul".
With this festive piece I want to capture the joy I felt in my soul when the light of Jesus entered my heart after having been wandering through life without purpose and without meaning. Faith is the most beautiful treasure that can be received, after love, in this life.
Faith as a guarantee of what is expected and the certainty of what is not seen, sustains us and drives us to live in communion with the Lord and to do his will; without faith it is impossible to please God. Through the gift of faith we seek the profound conversion of our being and through faith the commandments of God are inscribed in our hearts.
Without a doubt I want to convey to you with this song a feeling of faith, hope and love. Before I say goodbye, I want to ask you, how did this song make you feel?
    ### Peace and good!
