What does it mean to walk in a manner worthy of God\'s call? What makes our walks worthy? Paul begs the church in Ephesus to walk this way, with humility, gentleness, peace, and love; but the source and power for walking in that manner is found in the unity, perfection, and wholeness of our God.

Paul continues his prayer for the Ephesians, asking God that He would shape his Church to be rooted and grounded in the love of Christ. What are you rooted in? Who or what do you turn to when things around you seem shaky? Ephesians 3:14-21 reminds us that it’s only through the power of the Spirit we can be firmly planted in the unfathomable love of Christ, which frees us from slavery to our sin and fear

God, through the Church, is bringing the gospel to the entire world. God has chosen to display his glorious mystery--the good news of salvation in Christ Jesus for Jew and Gentile--through his people as they live all of life for the glory of God.

In Ephesians 3:1-8 the apostle Paul writes that he has been commissioned to declare a great mystery: “the mystery of Christ” (v.4). This mystery, proclaimed through the gospel, announced that Gentiles were not only unified with Christ, but also unified with Jews. This “mystery” is that Gentiles are “fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel” along with God’s ancient people, the Jews (v.6).

This glorious mystery is good news for us today, empowering us to live clinging to God’s promises for us in Christ, working toward unity in the Church, and working for the Kingdom as we declare good news in word and deed, language and life.

Prayerful Expectation number 1 for 2017: that we are a people increasing in joy!

You were once dead, but are now alive in Christ. You were once aliens, but are now citizens of the kingdom. You were once strangers, but are now members of God\'s household. Not only this, but if you are in Christ you are also being built into the very dwelling place of God!

Paul powerfully expounds upon the truth that God, in Jesus the Christ, has created a single new humanity; a humanity unified in Christ that destroys hostility, disunity and division. All those who belong to Christ–no matter race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status–are the new people of God!

Today’s church may no longer face the question of the integration of Jew and Gentile into a single family; however, we face the question on whether or not our churches are still divided in any way along racial or cultural lines. What does God’s word have to say to us about this?

On the heels of Easter celebration, we take a week to see how our Easter lives--our Resurrection Lives!--are lived out in the everyday. Paul tells us that we have been raised with Christ and are hidden with Christ in God. No area of our lives are left untouched by the power and grace of God.
