Today we look at a passage as James turns his attention back to those who are facing oppression, facing unjust circumstances. Whether you’ve faced these kinds of circumstances in the past, are facing them right now or just know that you are likely to face them at some point in the future, James has some important instructions for how we’re supposed to handle those situations.

Our ultimate allegiance is to Jesus and there are times that being an American and being a Christian aren’t perfectly aligned. That’s more often true now than when our country was founded, but we have to recognize that there’s always been a certain amount of tension between allegiance to our country and allegiance to Jesus. It’s just the way it is. And at the end of the day, our allegiance is to Jesus first.
