Veronica and Cheltzie are celebrating Hispanic Heritage on this week’s episode of Mix Take with a very special guest, Allison. Not only is she Cheltzie’s cousin and a person she looks up to in her life but she is also an important person in the fashion world! Ali is a true inspiration to her family and friends, to Hispanic queens, to the fashion world, to those wanting to change their lives and chase their dreams, to women everywhere. Proof that it is never too late to do what you love. What would Mix Take be if not talking about what that means to women, to break societal and traditional norms and most importantly living a life that is true to you as an individual. The ladies touch on Mental Health, a HUGE factor in all of their lives and the importance of having the conversation. Wrapping up this episode, the ladies speak about Hispanic Heritage, how it is evolving and the traditional parts that will forever be celebrated…like FOOD! • Women Dominating Their Careers: Magnificent Macie

Ending this segment on an impressive note, Cheltzie and Veronica have on Charlene Goddard!! She is a supermom and an author. Her first book, Magnificent Macie, was inspired by her daughter, Skye. Being that the society we live in today still lacks diversity among main characters in books, movies and tv shows, Charlene took the initiative to create a book for her daughter that had a main character that represented Skye and other little girls in the world. This sweet story doesn't only offer representation but, an impactful storyline that speaks about racism and bullying and also, shares the history of the Congo and St Louis, Missouri. Her book is education, inspiring and so powerful so, of course she had to continue Macie's story with a second book that is coming out this August! Tune in for more details on what this book means to Charlene and the ups and downs of being a writer.

  • Shaping Positive Body Image with Aisling

Mix Take zooms across the Atlantic ocean to chat with their girl, Aisling! *(pronounced: ash-ling not az-ling) Formally from Ireland, and now residing in a real life storybook; Amsterdam. Aisling shares her journey to body positivity and self love. From head to toe, mind to body, the ladies implore their struggles that led them to uplift themselves and uplift others. Aisling also brings a different perspective, not only because she is across the world but her dealings with skinny shaming, different kinds of mental health struggles and at times, even being judged negatively for wearing makeup. Her journey has led her through highs and lows but she is resilient and sharing her story to help others. This episode concludes the positive body image segment, the biggest takeaways have been, no matter what we look like, what we choose or don't choose, we are more than our bodies but, we should all love the bodies we do have. Mental health should be prioritized and taken care of just as much as our physical health. Society's beauty standards are flawed and we have the power to change that narrative.
To our listeners, our friends, our families, please go into this summer season embracing yourselves and enjoying yourselves. Practice self love because we are all worthy.
