  • 016 - Fulfilled at Home: Creating Fulfillment in our Home Creation

Today, I talk about fulfillment in home creation. What does it actually mean to be fulfilled in our home creation, how it differs from satisfaction and happiness, and what leads to fulfillment in our homes and lives.

In this episode, I will share some practical ways to create fulfillment in our homes, with our home creation and in our lives.

    Here’s a recap:

    1.       A more fulfilling life is typically the result of living authentically and in a way that is consistent with our beliefs and potential – living a life that is aligned with who we are and what we really want.

    2.       Creating satisfaction and fulfillment in our home and lives is about internal alignment. The journey to a more fulfilling life and home actually starts within.

    3.       We can start creating fulfillment in our homes and lives when we:

    • look within and identifying who we are.
    • build our relationships
    • stop comparing ourselves, our homes and our lives to others, and to really accept what is.
    • engage in care practices
    • lean into self-love and compassion and to improve our self-talk.
    • have a growth mindset, never stop learning and seek help from others.
    • practice gratitude and be grateful in our lives.
    • give generously and serve others.
    • let go of unpleasant experiences and forgive the past
    • create meaningful work and persistently move towards your dreams.
    • consider our physical environment.

    • 4.      We dive deeper into these topics and more in the Holistic Home Method and the Five Foundations of Home. Working together might be the support you need to create more fulfillment in your home and with your home creation.

    • 015 - Success at Home: Defining Success in Home Creation

Today, I talk about Success in home creation. How we define success in our home creation, how we can feel more successful in our homes and how sometimes it is the chasing of success that leads to burnout within our homemaking.

In this episode, I share how we discover our own definitions of success and some key things we can do to create success in our homes and with our home creation.

      Here’s a recap:

      1. The road to success is a unique and ongoing journey. Trying to duplicate someone else’s definition of success often results in feeling dissatisfied and disconnected from our true selves.
      2. We can find our own definition of success by connecting our authentic self, discovering our passions and dreaming of our future. It is so important to achieve a personal sense of success that aligns with our values, goals, and genuine
      3. passions and desires.
      4. One of the biggest pitfalls in the modern-day homemaking is falling into the trap of autopilot, just going through the motions, doing what everyone else are doing and trying to follow all the shoulds. This is when we find ourselves reacting and responding to life.
      5. We will have more success when learn to be more conscious and present in our day-to-day, and get really proactive and intentional with our habits, goals and actions.
      6. The three key things you can do to start getting intentional, move towards your goals and have success in your home. 1) Writing down our goals and using a SMART goal system, 2) Create a powerful belief system and 3) Invest in yourself

              9. 009 - Boundaries at Home: Establishing Boundaries in Home Creation

Today, I talk about Boundaries in home creation, which is the seventh lesson in the First Foundation of Home: Mindset & Motivation.

In this episode, we look at what boundaries are, why are they so important, why are they so difficult to set and keep, and how we can begin to establish boundaries in our homes and lives.

                Here’s a recap:

                1. Boundaries are so important in our home and life. They really matter. In home creation, boundaries are about being intentional with limits on our space, time, responsibilities and behaviours.
                2. Boundaries are actually not about controlling other people, but are about us. It's about caring for our well-being, preserving our energy, and protecting our time. Setting boundaries means that we define what is acceptable, and the limits to what is okay and what is not okay.
                3. Lack of Boundaries leads to exhaustion, overwhelm, resentment, lower self-esteem, reduced quality of work, and hurts of overall
                4. well-being.
                5. Boundaries can be hard because we fear missing out or disappointing people. Sometimes it is worth missing out on something to protect our time, energy, health, space. And it is okay to disappoint or let down other people if your intention is to protect and take care of yourself.
                6. Boundaries can also be hard because it is stressful to say no and because of social conditioning around our value and worth. Even through it feels more stressful in the moment, setting boundaries greatly reduces stress in our lives. And we do not need to take care of others to be valuable in life.
                7. By defining our boundaries and limits on space, time, responsibilities, and behaviour, we create homes that care for and respect our personal needs and the needs of others.
                8. We dive into Boundaries further in the First Foundation of Home: Mindset & Motivation, which is within the Holistic Home Method.

                10. 008 - Cultivating Care: Creating Home with Care Practices

Today, I talk about Care Practices in home creation, which is the sixth lesson in the First Foundation of Home: Mindset & Motivation.

In this episode, we look at what care practices really are, how they benefit us in our homes, how they are tied into the eight dimensions of wellness and how we can incorporate them into our home creation through plans and routines.

                  Here’s a recap:

                  1. Care Practices are essentially practices that align actions with dimensions of wellness and self love. Engaging in intentional care practices means taking the time to do things that help us live well and improve overall health.
                  2. Care practices increase happiness levels, productivity and confidence. They affect how we think, feel, act and even respond in any given situation.
                  3. When we operate from a place of engaging in regular care practices and meeting our needs, we can give so much more to ourselves, our work, our people and our homes.
                  4. A great way to incorporate care practices into our homes is with intentional home plans and routines that prioritize our well-being by balancing care practices with key household tasks.
                  5. We dive into Care Practices further in the First Foundation of Home: Mindset & Motivation. And we dive into Home Plans and Routines in the Third Foundation of Home. Both of which are within the Holistic Home Method.

                    Here’s a recap:

                    1. Wellness is the active pursuit of activities, choices and lifestyles that lead to a state of health.
                    2. There are eight dimensions of wellness - mental, emotional, physical, social, spiritual, environmental, vocational and financial. Creating homes that support our well-being incorporates each of these eight dimensions of wellness.
                    3. There is a strong interconnection between the difference dimensions of wellness. Each aspect relates to and influences the others.
                    4. When we create homes that are centered on our well-being, we consider these different dimensions of wellness and make intentional decisions to support and nurture wellness within our home.
                    5. Creating a wellness-centred home doesn't require a massive overhaul; it can start with small, actionable and achievable steps today.
