In this episode, we look at some different psychological aspects of home. How our homes impacts our health and contribute to our healing. And I share some tips to get started creating a home that supports our wellbeing.
Here’s a recap:
The psychology of home explores how our physical environment affects our well-being, behavior, emotions, and overall mental health. Some different psychological aspects of home include: safety, identity, control, relationships, attachment and emotional wellbeing.
Understanding the different psychological aspects of home help us with our home creation.
Often when we think about psychology and mental health, we also think of healing. Our homes can be spaces of healing and we can experience healing through our home creation.
Three ways we can get started with creating a home that is to (1) start with decluttering, (2) create a special space in your home and (3) incorporate personal touches in your home.
The Holistic Home Method and the Five Foundations of Home are designed to support you in creating home with these psychological aspects in mind and prioritizing your wellbeing in the context of your home creation. We look at our mindset & motivation, decluttering, developing plans & routines, decorating in a way that brings function, beauty and support, and living within natural rhythms and cycles. Working together might be the support you need.

Today, I talk about exhaustion in home creation. This is the
In this episode, we look at why many home creators are tired
Here’s a recap:
Exhaustion and Fatigue is such a big topic and there are so many contributing factors to why we are feeling so tired. Today we just skimmed the surface.
It is really important to look at the connection between exhaustion and overwhelm in homes, recognizing the multi-dimensional, multifaceted aspects of exhaustion is the first step towards addressing it in our home and with our home creation.
Exhaustion can creep in easily and start to make everything feel that much more overwhelming, and it goes beyond
Some of the reasons we are so exhausted are lack of sleep, over commitment, poor time management and ignoring our natural energy cycles.
We can begin to break that cycle of exhaustion and overcome overwhelm in our homes when we work on improving our sleep hygiene and habits, set boundaries and learn to say no to over commitment, manage of time well with plans and routines, and care for our energy levels by leaning into our natural rhythms and cycles with care practices.
We cover all these things and more in the Holistic Home Method and Five Foundations of Home. We explore our values, motivations and boundaries in the First Foundation of Home – Mindset & Motivation. We look at time management and routines in Third Foundation of Home – Plans & Routines, we create a home environment for us to thrive in both the Second and Fourth Foundation of Home – Release and Reset and Design & Décor, and we lean into Cyclical Living in the Fifth Foundation of Home. Working together might be the support you need for creating more success, fulfillment and joy in your home and with your home creation.

In this episode, we look at what the mental load is, how is contributes to feelings of overwhelm and what we can do to try to manage the mental in our homes and with our home creation.
Here’s a recap:
The mental load is a term for the invisible labor that goes in the management of household and home and family, which typically falls to women. It is not just the physical tasks in the house, but rather the thinking and overseeing of those physical tasks.
The mental load is the real deal and has real effects on home, our home creation and our lives. When the mental load starts to be too much it leads to frustration, burn out, stress, overwhelm, and anxiousness. And can result in feelings of apathy, anger, resentment and a real disconnection in relationships.
The Holistic Home Method and the Five Foundations of Home are designed to help support us in managing the mental load in our home creation. We can do that by looking at our mindset & motivation, decluttering, developing plans & routines, decorating in a way that brings function and beauty, and living within natural rhythms and cycles.
In the Holistic Home Method and the Five Foundations of Home look at how we can shift our mindset, motivation and methods to support the mental load. Working together might be the support you need in managing the mental load in you home and with your home creation.
