New research is aiming to use modern technology to save coffee crops from insects and pathogens. 

The global coffee industry suffered a loss of more than one billion dollars in 2023 as a result of the coffee berry borer. 

Researchers at Edith Cowan University has used image processing software captured by drones to identify the insect.
