Some of the world’s most prominent leaders attribute their setbacks to the reason they found success. Their lowest moments paved the way for their creative rebirth. Through the four phases of The Setback Cycle—Establish, Embrace, Explore, and Emerge—Amy Shoenthal guides readers on how to make sense of their experiences, gain clarity on what comes next, and move confidently into future endeavors. That framework, developed through research and conversations with scholars, psychologists, neuroscientists, and executive coaches is supported through the deeply personal stories of founders and leaders like fashion icons Stacy London and Norma Kamali, fitness instructors Robin Arzón and Kendall Toole, chef Palak Patel, non-binary beauty influencer Cyrus Veyssi, and inspirational founders like Cate Luzio, Erica Taylor, Amanda Goetz, and more. Amy Shoenthal is a USA Today bestselling author, journalist and marketing consultant. Throughout her career, she has worked with some of the world's largest brands, from Procter & Gamble to Google, providing strategic marketing guidance and helping shape their brand narratives.
Blending her marketing expertise with her formal journalism training, Amy approaches storytelling as sense making. As a top contributor to ForbesWomen and Harvard Business Review, she shines the spotlight on those who have been historically underestimated yet are doing the work to solve society’s biggest problems.
Years of interviewing hundreds of leaders, from politicians to Peloton instructors, fashion icons to founders just starting their journeys inspired her bestselling book, The Setback Cycle, which offers a framework to help people persevere through and triumph over setbacks.
Amy is also a sought-after speaker. She recently did a TEDx talk about how setbacks set the stage for reinvention. She has been a keynote speaker, moderator and panel discussion participant at conferences like Social Media Week, Weekend at the Pitch Club, the Mom 2 Summit and more.
Amy also works with organizations like Google, Royal Bank of Canada, KeyBank and others to lead professional development trainings, workshops and team building sessions to help employees navigate tumultuous times and emerge with a sense of connection, creativity and motivation. Daniella here, solo. I've always said that there are many ways to mom. And one of those ways, for me, has been to mother my pup. He died in my arms at the age of 12 and I wanted to let you know. Not just about his death but his life. And the impact he's made on mine. Not only that but I thought it would be appropriate given the premise of the show to celebrating the very real mothering experience of a dog mom. Enjoy. Just you and me, friend.

With Jewish people making up .2% of the world population and Jewish Israelis making up .1%, it's likely you haven't met an Israeli Jew. We here at Mom Curious believe that hate grows in the dark so we'd love to take the opportunity, during this global rise in antisemitism, to shed light on one of our favorite Jewish Israeli moms, Dikla Goren.
