I said what I said! But hear me out… Asking for help puts your parenting partner in the position of being your assistant in raising your kids. But a parenting partner shouldn’t leave you to carry all the mental load of parenting. Here is what you should ask for instead.

Social Media will have you believing that you need to wake up at 5am, workout, meditate, journal, walk 3 miles a day, eat kale salads and smoothies, have a hobby, spend quality time with everyone in your life and drink a gallon of water a day…(Insert maniacal, exhausted laugh). So often we think selfcare is an all or nothing practice and so many of us moms end up not practicing selfcare because there is no way we can do all the selfcare things we “should” be doing. But the truth about selfcare is it’s the small selfcare practices that can sustain us.

For a mom, selfcare can sometimes seem like an overwhelming and daunting task to add to the already too long to-do lists. And there can be a million reasons to not do all the things that we are told we “should be” doing… There isn’t enough time in the day… It cost too much… You don’t have the capacity to do all the things… The  list goes on and on. But here are a few simple selfcare practices that any mom can do at any time in her day for just a few minutes. 

When was the last time you checked in with yourself… Your mental self, emotional self, physical self, spiritual self? As a mom, you often get caught up in the chaos of motherhood and tuck away how you feel to take care of all the people you need to care for. But you need to be cared for too and selfcare starts with checking in with yourself to see if you are really ok or is that just what you are telling yourself and everyone else.
