Welcome back to another episode!
Today, I’m sharing part one of a three-part interview I did with Zipporah Herbert on her podcast, Bariatric Confessions. Zipporah Herbert is a Bariatric community builder and supporter. She shares her journey in hopes to inspire and motivate the community. After getting the gastric sleeve, she created a community for people who did not have support from their inner circle. Zipporah took her background in digital marketing and focused on being a bridge to connect the barbaric world. She's hosted exercise challenges, meetups, and her daily podcast called Bariatric Confessions.
In this first episode, we talk about my bariatric surgery, taking my experience as a patient and a therapist to help others, the truth about overconsumption, figuring out your ‘why’, feeling comfortable in your loose skin, and challenging the societal standard of beauty.
[03:00] My bariatric surgery.
[03:50] Helping other bariatric people.
[07:23] A lifelong journey with overconsumption.
[11:16] What to do if you regret the surgery.
[18:50] Let’s talk about loose skin.
[23:38] Challenging the societal standard of beauty.
[27:49] The importance of therapy.
“A lot of what we do and how we’ve experienced food, if you’ve been shamed, you do it in silence.”
“You don’t even realize how much you’re being conditioned to overeat and over-consume.”
“You can’t control everything. You have to understand that and breathe.”
“For me, loose skin is a representative of where I come from.”
“If who you’ve been hasn’t ever felt good enough, the surgery does not fix that.”Interested in learning more about Zipporah Herbert:
