  • Election 2018 Has Begun: Run, Mama Run!
Call it the Trump effect: an unprecedented number of women are running for office this year, amid what Democratic leaders hope will be a big, blue wave of an election. The MOMocrats talk to Stacy Mason of WomenCount.org on ways to support progressive female candidates all over the country in this week's podcast looking at the day's political news from the progressive point of view. Hosts Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills will also discuss the day's breaking political news.  An Engender Media Group production.

  • The White House Is an Intense Place as the Grownups Are Leaving the Building
Sarah Huckabee Sanders says lots of laughable things in her daily press briefings, but yesterday took the cake, as she proclaimed that "This is an intense place, as is every White House, and it’s not abnormal that you would have people come and go." This was after being questioned about the unprecedented rate of personnel turnover for an administration that's only been in power for 14 months. But the loss of Gary Cohn as economic adviser - over Trump's declaration of a trade war - is a taste of things to come. The president is reported to be increasingly isolated - and apt to rule from his gut. And we all know how many Big Macs and Diet Cokes are swimming around in there... This bumpy ride is about to get a lot bumpier. Politics from a progressive point of view, hosted by MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills.

  • After Parkland: And a Child Shall Lead
It's been another week where news has hit at a dizzying pace - but the MOMocrats are still focused on the gun debate movement being led by the students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Two weeks after the tragedy that left 17 people dead, these remarkable kids have accomplished more on this issue than anyone has managed in recent decades, with corporate partners of the NRA leaving in droves, changes to gun sales policies by major retailers like Dicks Sporting Goods and Walmart, and demonstrations planned for later this month that may dwarf the turnout of the Womens March. But the success of the messaging of these kids poses the MOMocrats to wonder: why didn't the kids in Ferguson and Baltimore and other cities get this kind of traction for Black Lives Matter? MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills discuss this and more political news from the last few days from a progressive point of view.

  • We Don't Have a President on President's Day
In this special Presidents Day edition of MOMochat, MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills agree with journalist Joy-Ann Reid's assertion that this is "the second consecutive such holiday without an American president." Trump's weekend tweetstorm covering the indictments issued by Mueller on Friday, where he lashed out at the usual suspects and maddeningly accused the FBI of missing the tip about the Florida shooter because they were focused on Russia is another example of a president who is focused narrowly on his own interests and cares little about the people he is supposed to lead. The MOMocrats also praise the young people who are speaking out about the scandalous ineffectiveness of lawmakers on gun policies that allow the real American carnage to continue. • Bye-Bye to the Sequester? And Other Changes Afoot
A new day dawns in Washington: After nearly a decade of gridlock, the Senate has put forth a bipartisan budget deal - and it increases spending on both the military and domestic needs by $300 billion over the next two years. We are guessing that it's harder for Republicans to scream about the deficit when they just ballooned it themselves with their tax bill, although this morning on NPR, the MOMocrats heard a GOP congressman try. As for the Dreamers: McConnell has promised an immigration debate in the Senate. Speaker Ryan has not - which is why Nancy Pelosi held the floor yesterday for eight hours (in heels!) to make the case. MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills discuss that and other political news of the week, including the president's ridiculous order for a military parade down Pennsylvania Avenue in this week's political podcast from the progressive point of view. • Mueller, the Memo, and the Dangers Ahead
The closer the Mueller investigation gets to the president, the more dangerous he becomes - and the special prosecutor is currently breathing down the neck of his inner circle. That's why we spent the last several days watching the drama play out between Devin Nunes, the White House, and the Trump Justice Department and FBI. MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills discuss this and a few of the other political events of the last couple of weeks, including the State of the Union and the Democratic response, the FBI "secret society" that was just a joke... and as much as can be fit into 60 minutes of talk. An Engender Media Production.

  • Women March Again - Trump Fumes in White House
MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills discuss today's Women's Marches which - once again - have drawn hundreds of thousands of women all over the world, including 500,000 in Los Angeles (which brought these three women together for the first time ever). Trump had the audacity to tweet credit for today's marches, which is true - just not in the way he spins. Also on the docket: The President's "excellent" bill of health, as pronounced by White House doctor Ronny Jackson, and the issues surrounding the #TrumpShutdown, CHIP, and DACA.

  • New Year, Same Old POTUS. Pass the Popcorn.
The President's two-week golf vacation is over and he returned to the White House seemingly refreshed with a barrage of tweets designed to freak out both Americans and our allies (and possibly distract us all from the revelations that keep coming up out of the inquiries into the Trump campaign and Russia). And then the Guardian published an excerpt from the upcoming book, Fire and Fury, with some very interesting comments from former Trump adviser Steve Bannon - and all the fire and fury started emanating once again from the Oval Office. MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills pass the proverbial popcorn while also talking about some of the very real policy issues the progressive movement needs to continue fighting right now in this week's podcast from the progressive point of view. An Engender Media Group production.

  • MOMocrats MOMochat Year-End Show
MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills look back at a tumultous year in politics from the progressive point of view in the year-end edition of the weekly MOMochat podcast. The focus will be on the success of the grassroots Resistance, beginning with the Women's Marches, the Republicans' failure to repeal Obamacare despite holding all the power in government, and on through to victories in off-year and special elections in Virginia and Alabama. We hope to throw a lot of red meat to anemic lefties as we prepare for a big mid-term election year.An Engender Media Group production.

  • Trump's Short Lived Victory Lap
After nearly a year in office, Donald Trump is finally able to sign a bill into law: A major overhaul of the tax code that was rushed to a simple majority vote with little time for anyone to review. The new law favors the 1% at the expense of everyone else and benefits the President himself, which should make for some interesting attack ads in 2018. Also: Kids from low-income families are still without CHIP, and we are still awaiting a solution for the Dreamers. MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills talk about all of these issues and the possibility of a government shutdown in this week's look at politics from a progressive point of view, produced by Engender Media Group.
