  • James Comey's Big Day Did Not Disappoint
Former FBI Director James Comey's testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee was so widely anticipated, that the three major broadcast networks dropped regular programming to cover it live -- something they've rarely done since the advent of cable news. And it was as dramatic as anticipated - especially after the early release of his printed opening statement yesterday, which read like a Hollywood movie. Comey's actual testimony didn't disappoint: He calmly and quietly laid out the case for a President who obstructed justice by tellng the FBI Director he "hoped" he could let [the Flynn investigation] go."  MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills talk about this electrifying performance from a progressive point of view. An Engender Media Group production.

  • People in Covfefe Houses Shouldn't Throw Covfefe
Aside from his failed presidency, Donald Trump will go down in history as the originator of "covfefe," which translates to "another distraction from the issues at hand." Those issues include withdrawing from the Paris Accords, exempting his staff from ethics rules, destroying our public education system, resuming the failed war on drugs with tough sentences while allowing corporate criminals to go free, giving the Russians back the compounds seized after they interfered in our election, and obstructing the investigation into that Russian interference.  In the meantime, those investigations are moving forward, with James Comey expected to testify as early as next week. MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills discuss political news from a progressive point of view. An Engender Media Group production.

  • Donald Trump Does NATO - And It's About What You'd Expect
Donald Trump has been visiting with foreign leaders for the last week and managed not to do or say anything too embarrassing, which we realize is a low bar, but there you have it. And then today, he spoke at NATO. It was not good. Also not good are the continuing revelations about the Trump team and Russia, which may or may not be the reason that Reince Priebus and Steve Bannon were sent back to the states to deal. Or the budget proposal the White House released last week. Not to mention the CBO evaluation of the healthcare bill passed by the House last month. Finally, today is the special election in Montana and the Republican candidate has been charged for attacking a journalist. MOMocrats Aliza Worthington, Karoli, and Donna Schwartz Mills discuss from a progressive point of view. An Engender Media Group production.

  • No Politician In History Has Been Treated So Badly. Right.
Donald Trump gave a commencement speech yesterday to graduates of the US Coast Guard Academy that quickly turned into a whine about how he has been treated by the media, with no acknowledgement that the problems plaguing his sinking ship of a White House are all self-inflicted. And as the day wore on, the pace of bad news for Trump just accelerated: Deputy Attorney General named respected former FBI head Robert Mueller Special Counsel to investigate the connections between the Trump campaign and Russia. The Washington Post published a transcript of a 2016 meeting of House Republican leadership where there were comments about Trump being on the payroll of Vladimir Putin - and Paul Ryan ordered them never to leak those allegations to the public. (The GOP denied the conversation took place until they learned there was a recording of it - which they then characterized as "joking.") And the New York Times revealed the bombshell news that BEFORE the inauguration, Michael Flynn informed the Trump transition team that he was under FBI investigation -- and he was named National Security Advisor ANYWAY. And - as MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills note... that was just YESTERDAY's developments. They've got plenty of political news to talk about from a progressive point of view. An Engender Media Group production.

  • Are We a Banana Republic Yet?
Gee, what ever might the MOMocrats talk about this week? Has anything newsworthy happened? It starts with "C" and ends with "omey" and there is a chance the topic may make it's way onto our podcast this afternoon, along with Donald Trump's usual echoes of Nixon and the actions of tin-horn dictators around the world. MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills discuss politics from a progressive point of view in this Engender Media Group production.

  • Groundhog Day, Washington Style
The big news in Congress today is that they voted on the AHCA. Again. Only this time, the House Republicans mustered the votes to repeal Obamacare and replace it with the latest version of Trumpcare. And no, they're not waiting around for the CBO to score the bill on costs and consequences, because that is what made everyone realize that it wasn't better than the healthcare law we already had. Besides, Congress wants to get this done before they take yet another long recess. MOMocrats Aliza Worthington, Karoli, and Donna Schwartz Mills also talk about the re-heat of the House and Senate investigations into how Russia disrupted our election - or, as Chuck Grassley would say, why Hillary's emails still matter. (Hey - somehow THAT ended up being the lede on the news yesterday after Comey testified before the Senate.) The MOMocrats' weekly podcast looking at the day's political news from the progressive point of view.  MOMocrats MOMochat looks at this week's news from a progressive point of view. • You Can't Judge a Presidency by Its 1st 100 Days - But We'll Try
Trump is right about one thing: You can't judge an entire presidency by its first 100 days. But it is a useful benchmark, and this administration has been spectacular in all its failures: From the executive orders that keep getting struck down in court to the failed healthcare proposal, to the paranoia and infighting within the White House, to enriching themselves from the trappings of the presidency, to the ever-present undercurrent of the Trump campaign's boost from Russia (and whether anyone within the campaign was colluding)... President Trump and his team get an "F" for "feeble."  MOMocrats Aliza Worthington, Karoli, and Donna Schwartz Mills discuss. An Engender Media Group production.

  • Jon Ossoff's Victory in Georgia
No one really expected Jon Ossoff to win yesterday's special election outright. GA-6 is a district that is 9 points more Republican than the country as a whole. But just the fact that he got 48% in a field of 20 candidates is pretty amazing. It's true that the run-off in June will be against Karen Handel without any other candidates to reduce the Republican vote - but that doesn't mean this will be an impossible task. MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills discuss that and a whole slew of other political topics that have arisen this week: Trump's policy flip-flops, the energy at this week's Town Halls... and "good-bye" to Bill O'Reilly and (soon!) Jason Chaffetz. An Engender Media Group production.

  • Fly the Friendly Skies: Flight 3411 and the Age of Trump
That incident on United Flight 3411 doesn't have anything to do with Trump's America. Or maybe it does. It is indicative of an economy dominated by a few large corporations whose management considers their entities more important than the people who are their customers. And with Neil Gorsuch now firmly in place on the Supreme Court, the rights of corporate "persons" will likely multiply (we already know how he felt about that poor truck driver faced with either following company rules - or freezing to death). MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills talk about that, last week's "presidential" attack on Syria, and as many of the other dizzying political news topics in this special Spring Break edition of their political podcast from the progressive point of view. An Engender Media Group production.

  • News Whiplash in the Trump Era
The MOMocrats are suffering from Trump-inflicted news whiplash, forcing them to turn their attention to a different catastrophe several times a day. The first one Karoli, Aliza Worthington and Donna Schwartz Mills will address in this week's progressive political podcast is the end of the Senate as we know it - after the Democrats successfully filibustered Neil Gorsuch and Mitch McConnell's very real threat to trigger the "nuclear option," ending the filibuster for Supreme Court justices and removing the tiny bit of leverage left to a minority party. The MOMocrats will likely also have a few things to say about Devin Nunes recusing himself from the House investigation into Russian interference in our election, Steve Bannon's removal as National Security Advisor, the tragedy in Syria, North Korean nukes, and Tillerson's refusal to say anything about it (and really - it appears that First Son-in-Law Jared Kushner is acting as the REAL Secretary of State), Attorney General Jeff Sessions' review of consent decrees... and have we missed anything? We probably have. Chalk it up to whiplash. An Engender Media Group production.
