  • Roe v Wade and the Continuing Battle for Women's Healthcare
This week marks another anniversay of the Roe v Wade decision - yet the battle for safe contraception continues. Advocate and activist Dr. Sophia Yen chats with the MOMocrats about abortion rights, safe contraception, and restrictive new laws, ballot propositions and "religious rights" exceptions that are making it difficult for women who merely want to fill prescriptions for medications they are entitled to receive for free under the Affordable Care Act. Dr. Yen talks about a solution to that problem that she has spearheaded: The Pill Club, an innovative contraceptive delivery service that combines an online pharmacy with tele-health (if you need to update your prescription for the pill). For more information on The Pill Club, please use the MOMocrats' affiliate link: https://thepillclub.com/#/?promo=momocrat.

  • The Most Powerful Nation on Earth. Period.
President Obama's final State of the Union reminded Americans that the United States is still the most powerful nation on earth. He also had a few choice things to say to the Republican candidates who are vying to replace him next year. MOMocrats Cynematic, Karoli and Donna Schwartz Mills discuss the speech from a progressive point of view.

  • #Vanilla ISIS, Guns and Money
2016 is now in full swing, with an occupation in Oregon, El Niño's visit to California, President Obama's gun actions, and the death match between Ted Cruz and Donald Trump.

  • Nothing to Fear But the Entire Republican Field
This morning, the MOMocrats are celebrating the news that Karoli won't have to sit through another Republican debate this year. They talk about the clusterf**k that took place last night. Also on today's agenda: Yesterday's unprecedented closure of all 900+ campuses in the nation's second largest school system after a bomb threat that turned out to be a hoax and the context of making that decision in an atmosphere of fear following this month's San Bernardino massacre... and a look at what the Democratic candidates are doing (again: why did they schedule their debates on SATURDAY nights?) Cynematic, Karoli, and Donna Schwartz Mills discuss the week's politics from a progressive point of view. An Engender Media Group production.

  • The Democratic Candidates Are Building a Platform
While Donald Trump trolls the world with fascist ravings, Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders quietly released some planks in their platforms, including plans for infrastructure building and immigration. President Obama also gave a landmark speech on fighting ISIS (he urged Americans not to give in to the hate speech that fuels the idea that the West is fighting all of Islam. It touched on the same ideas that George W. Bush proclaimed following 9/11). MOMocrats Cynematic, Karoli and Donna Schwartz Mills discuss in this week's podcast looking at the day's political news from the progressive point of view. • All Mass Shootings are Acts of Terrorism - Why Aren't They Covered That Way?
Another week, another mass shooting. MOMocrats Karoli, Cynematic and Donna Schwartz Mills are as horrified as the rest of America at the senseless massacre of public employees in San Bernardino on Wednesday, but they wonder why the previous week's violence at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado wasn't also covered as an act of terrorism? According to this map published on Vox, there have been over 1,000 mass shootings in the three years since Sandy Hook, "with shooters killing at least 1,327 people and wounding 3,784 more." And while sane Americans everywhere ask for sensible laws that would make it harder for people to obtain guns for nefarious purposes, Congress has once again REJECTED a measure that would prevent dealers from selling guns to people on terrorist watch lists - AFTER the event in San Bernardino unfolded. The MOMocrats talk about this and other political news of the week from a progressive point of view. An Engender Media Group Production.

  • Holiday Repeat: The Paradox of Hillary Clinton
It's Thanksgiving week, so the MOMocrats are repeating last week's podcast: News was still unfolding in Paris, which was under lockdown again after a raid looking for the mastermind of Friday's horrific terrorist attack. It's been reported that two people have died, including a woman wearing a suicide vest. Needless to say, US political discourse in the wake of ISIS has turned to the topics of foreign policy, terrorism, and immigration - areas that are in the bailiwick of the Democratic front-runner, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. MOMocrats Karoli and Donna Schwartz Mills talk with Joanne Bamberger, author of "Love Her, Love Her Not: The Hillary Paradox."

  • Another GOP Debate, Another Evening Full of Lies
Republicans were a lot happier with last night's Fox Business Channel debate than they were with the session they had at CNBC. That's largely because the moderators never tried to challenge the candidates on the outrageous lies they told. MOMocrats Cynematic, Karoli and Donna Schwartz Mills have a few things to say about that on this Veterans Day edition of MOMocrats MOMochat, looking at the day's political news from the progressive point of view. An Engender Media Group production.

  • It's Not the Progressive Agenda
The Progressive Agenda didn't fare well in yesterday's off-year elections, but that doesn't mean there's anything wrong with the candidates Democrats ran or the policies they pursue. Election 2015 followed the typical pattern of the last few cycles, where conservatives angered by the progressive victories of the last year were motivated to show up to the polls ... and the people who typically vote for Democrats did not. This is why Republican Matt Bevin won the Kentucky governorship, despite polling that suggested the election would go to his Democratic opponent, Attorney General Jack Conway.
And once again, MOMocrats Karoli and Donna Schwartz Mills ask: How do we instill in Democrats the idea that no election is meaningless and that they need to show up and cast votes in them all?
