  • MOMocrats MOMochat's Last Summer Podcast: Hillary Clinton Gefilte Fish Edition
Next week, Congress gets back to work and their first order of business is to vote on the President's Iran deal. But right now, we're finishing up with one of the silliest political silly seasons in memory. Cynematic, Karoli and Donna Schwartz Mills talk about a hodgepodge of topics this week: The President's trip to Alaska, the Sarah Palin interview of Donald Trump on a rinky-dink right-wing website, Carly Fiorina's probable graduation from the GOP Kids' table...and the drip-drip-drip of Hillary Clinton's emails.

  • MOMocrats MOMOochat: Politics from a Progressive Point of View
Yet another terrible shooting...and in other news this week, racist and xenophobic comments from not one but two GOP presidential candidates, and a few rays of hope here and there. Keep paying attention and keep voting!

  • The Summer of Trump
How radical is Donald Trump's immigration plan? It would gut the 14th Amendment. And other GOP candidates are jumping on his bandwagon. To be fair, only Scott Walker has echoed Trump's sentiment on this so far, and other, more "grown-up" candidates like Jeb Bush and Lindsay Graham have pushed back on this idea. But the GOP likely voters responding to polls are eating Trump's antics up, so we ask: how long will it be before this becomes an official part of the Republican platform? MOMocrats Karoli, Cynematic and Donna Schwartz Mills discuss the electoral landscape from a progressive point of view.

  • MOMocrats MOMochat: After Seattle: #BlackLivesMatter & Changing Presidential Campaign Platforms
On the table for today: many white progressives  and other allies in Seattle found themselves challenged by the confrontational behavior of Marissa Janae Johnson and Mara Willaford, two #BlackLivesMatter organizers who disrupted Bernie Sanders' planned campaign rally on Medicaid and Social Security this past weekend. When resentment of the disruption turned to epithets and shouting down the women, the activists responded by pointing out the very white supremacy within white progressive circles they were challenging. Looking at the long-term impact of their actions, not long after they disrupted the event, the Sanders campaign posted a more detailed platform on racial justice. In Los Angeles, the in-the-works hiring of a national press secretary, #BlackLivesMatter activist Symone Sanders, meant that she introduced Sanders at his SoCal appearance and will handle press going forward.

  • Pass the Popcorn: Previewing the GOP Debate with the MOMocrats
Ten candidates will duke it out Thursday night in Cleveland for the first GOP debate, and it promises to be a doozy! Especially since Fox News has relegated at least six other serious Republican contenders to an overflow event that starts earlier in the day, which critics have dubbed "the kids' table." MOMocrats Cynematic, Karoli and Donna Schwartz Mills preview the event and talk about the chances of a bloodbath between front runner Donald Trump and equally bombastic contenders like Chris Christie. Pass the popcorn. It's early enough in the race that we can be entertained instead of frightened.

  • Planned Parenthood Under Attack - Again
Two weeks ago, a shadowy group the Center for Medical Progress released a deceptively edited "sting" video against Planned Parenthood, which has become the opening salvo in yet another battle to defund the non-profit provider of reproductive health services. This week, the GOP in the Senate unveiled a bill that they hope will "ACORN" the group once and for all. MOMocrats Cynematic, Karoli, and Donna Schwartz Mills weigh in. • What Happens at Netroots Nation Gets Heard Around the Country
The MOMocrats took time off last week to attend Netroots Nation in Phoenix, Arizona - where they met and learned from progressive activists from around the country. Karoli, Cynematic and Donna Schwartz Mills report back on the newsworthy demonstration by #BlackLivesMatter and #SpeakHerName, which disrupted the planned Town Hall with Democratic candidates Martin O'Malley and Bernie Sanders... as well as Elizabeth Warren's keynote, women's leadership issues, the latest attack on Planned Parenthood, education panels and more. • The President on a Roll: A Raise for the Middle Class & New Rules on Segregation
Last week, President Obama proposed giving millions of middle class workers a raise. This week, he's tackling segregation. This is not bad for what the MSM presumed was a "lame duck Administration" following the 2014 midterm elections. In the meantime: Greece's problems are upsetting financial markets, the GOP clown bus keeps getting more crowded as 15 candidates fight among themselves for 10 spots in the first Fox News debate... and on the Democratic side of the ticket, reporters continue to write nasty articles about Hillary Clinton while basically ignoring the phenomenal drawing power of Bernie Sanders. MOMocrats Karoli, Cynematic and Donna Schwartz Mills discuss in this week's podcast looking at the day's political news from the progressive point of view. • A Good Week for Progressives
Forgive The MOMocrats if they feel like they've awakened in some imaginary progressive universe: Last week saw the Supreme Court deliver happy decisions on marriage equality, the Affordable Care Act and Fair Housing - and legal anaylyst Jessica Mason Pieklo will be back to talk about that. The fact that the Roberts Court also decided against Clean Air makes them want to shout "argle bargle," but that's beside the point: Could the mood of the country be shifting left? Activist Bree Newsome took the Confederate flag flying at the South Carolina state capitol into her own hands and an enthralled online community set about raising funds to pay her $5,000 bail money (and in the space of a day, wound up with over $100K). Bernie Sanders is drawing crowds larger than any other candidate. The President is raising wages for millions of workers who don't currently receive overtime. The US and Cuba are opening embassies. Can you blame hosts Cynematic, Karoli and Donna Schwartz Mills for wanting to talk about all this good news for a change? Produced by Engender Media Group.

  • SCOTUS is Not the Only News This Week
In a normal week, the MOMocrats would be anxiously awaiting the Supreme Court decisions on lethal injection, redistricting, EPA regulations, same sex marriage, Obamacare subsidies. But while the SCOTUS decisions will have long-term impact on the nation, this is not a normal week and MOMocrats Karoli, Cynematic and Donna Schwartz Mills will be discussing a myriad of other topics like: TPP, the Confederate flag, Bernie Sanders' amazing campaign rallies and Hillary Clinton's bold speech on race -- and President Obama's appearance on Marc Maron's podcast ("The best I've ever heard him do," says Karoli). Produced by Engender Media Group.
