  • Crow After Roe: Abortion Rights Under Siege
The election of 2010 was a "perfect storm for anti-abortion activists," says RH Reality Check political reporter Robin Marty. States with overwhelming Republican majorities AND Republican governors became ground zero in the War Against Women, as a massive number of laws were enacted, restricting women's reproductive rights to a point where abortion might be legal -- but completely inaccessible.
The MOMocrats are joined this week by Marty and Jessica Mason Pieklo, to discuss their groundbreaking new book, "Crow After Roe: How 'Separate But Equal' Has Become the New Standard in Women's Health and How We Can Change That."

  • What A Week It Was in Boston
Karoli of Crooks and Liars and Cynematic of K12NN discuss the capture of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects, the effects of the sequester and how a big screwup on an Excel spreadsheet ripped apart the intellectual justification for austerity policies that urge cuts during a recession. Can we just stop with the unproven austerity now?
Also, who is Pete Petersen and why do a handful of  billionaires get to decide everything from economic policy to education reform?
Two bright notes: Elizabeth Colbert-Busch, the Democratic candidate for Congress in SC, is in the lead over Republican Mark "Hiking the Appalachian Trail" Sanford, the disgraced former governor of the state. Heh. And the guy that was fingered as a suspect in the ricin-tainted letters to Congress incident is a loopy foot reflexologist, and not a creepy poisoner. What? Just listen.

  • Boston Bombings and Gun Safety
Karoli & Cynematic on today's show.
With a Senate vote scheduled for 4 pm Eastern today on universal background checks and other key components of gun safety legislation, comprehensive immigration reform introduced by the Gang of 8, and a horrific bombing in Boston that killed 3 and maimed or seriously injured hundreds more – this has been a week that is testing our country in numerous ways. Are we resolved? Resilient? Can we secure the improvements to gun safety laws we need even as we face the NRA’s opposition to the use of chemical taggants in explosives? Of one thing there’s no doubt: the Boston Marathon bombing has inspired MORE people to defy the fear the incident was meant to provoke. On today’s show we’ll talk about all of this AND the moneyed interests that use social media to try to divide and conquer progressives.

  • Don't Call Thatcher a Feminist - Even Though She Was
Against all odds, Margaret Thatcher served longer than any other British Prime Minister. She embarked on a political career while her children were young, and struck down opponents with a sharp tongue (and a handbag). Like many successful conservative politicians, she would not (or could not) support the feminist movement -- or even make the connection that she was also a feminist.  MOMocrats Cynematic and Donna Schwartz Mills discuss the week's political news from the progressive POV. Produced by Engender Media Group.

  • Good News and Bad News on the Gun Debate
Good news on the gun debate in Connecticut; not so good in the Senate. Plus, the NRA reveals its serious plan on increasing security in our public schools. (How do we know it's serious? It's 225 pages long!) And now it's official: Mark "Appalachian Trail" Sanford will face Elizabeth Colbert Busch in South Carolina.
These are just some of the topics Cynematic, Karoli and Donna Schwartz Mills will tackle in this week's political discussion from the progressive POV, hosted by the MOMocrats. Produced by Engender Media Group.
