On this episode of the Monday Main Point Jonathan, Jeremiah, Katrina, Blake, and Jeff discuss Jeff's message on pastor appreciation.  The staff use the text from Hebrews 13.7-8 to talk about what a pastor is, and what it's like to serve as a pastor.  They tackle questions like, "How much authority should a pastor have?", "Is it the pastor's responsibility to perform congregational care or is does that fall under other roles?", "What motivates a pastor to keep going when the going gets tough?", and "What is the best way to show appreciation to a pastor?"

On this episode of the Monday Main Point Jonathan, Jeremiah, Blake, and Jeff talk about Jeff's message from John 16. 7-11, "The Spirit's Help in Witnessing."  In this text Jesus outlines the Holy Spirit's role in convicting the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and the pastors spend time further unpacking each of these areas.  They discuss how best to talk to an unbelieving world about sin, how to understand how Jesus' righteousness is "imputed" to us, and whether we should engage in publicly calling out or judging the sins of the world.

On this episode of the Monday Main Point Jeremiah, Jeff, Blake, and Katrina discuss the Sunday sermon which was titled, "A Message to All Nations," from Luke 24:44-49. The main thrust of the sermon by Jeff McCarthy was on Luke's version of the Great Commission which is more famously found in Matthew 28:18-20. Luke also has a version of the Great Commission found in Acts 1:8. Some of the questions and topics of discussion for this week are: Where do we find the Great Commission in the Old Testament? The importance of Luke 24:47 as a framework for the Church. Did God's plan of salvation always include "the nations?" What is the Spirit's work in evangelism? Practical application for having Gospel conversations. And, How can ROS exist for another 143 years?

On this episode of Monday Main Point Jonathan, Jeremiah, Blake, and Jeff talk about the Homecoming message brought by Nick Decker.  Nick took his text from Ephesians 4.25-32, and offered 4 guidelines for believers to follow in order to have a witness that lasts.  The pastors discuss how focusing on the grace of Christ can enable believers to live a life which reflects the gospel.  Why do we not practice confessing sin to God and to one another?  How can our unchecked anger harm our relationships with one another and with God?  And why do a large percentage of both Gen Z and Millennials believer Christians are hypocrites?

On this episode of the Main Point Jonathan, Jeff, Blake, and our Minister of Congregational Care, Katrina Redman discuss Sunday's sermon on denying yourself.  The text was from Luke 9.23-24, and the group talk about what Jesus meant with this "hard teaching."  What does it mean to deny ourselves and is it a spiritual gift or a discipline? Is North-American Christianity compatible with the idea of self-denial, and if so, what does that look like?  How can the idea of "actively dying" in our physical lives inform our understanding of what it means to die daily to self?
