For years, members of the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe of White Mesa have voiced concerns about a nearby uranium mill polluting their water and air. During a recent spiritual walk from White Mesa to the mill, marchers demanded its closure. But the Canadian company that owns the mill has plans for expansion.
