If you’re newly blended and you haven’t talked about money, it’s important to start having those financial conversations as soon as you can. Lay it all out on the table: monthly bills, consumer debt, child support, sources of income, a monthly budget, and any triggers from a past marriage. Also discuss whether the stepparent will participate in the financial obligations related to their stepchildren. Transparent, ongoing conversations around money is a key aspect of a healthy marriage.
