Peace! Im really excited to drop this project I made last year into your feed. ZOOM DOOM BLOOM is a collection of raps I wrote during the wildly intense year of 2020. The first track was written as a New Years intention on January 1st 2020 and from there you get a sprinkling of stream of consciousness poems and reflections from throughout the year. All of these songs were produced by my friend, comrade and collaborator from New Hamphire GeNreal - he also arranged this mix and added the various samples and bits you hear. I know y'all subscribe for the political education of the podcast but poetry and music is my life blood, as long as you allow it I'll keep dropping tunes to supplement the show. - GP Jacob
We are joined today by Willy Lee, candidate for the Ward 12 city council seat in Minneapolis. Willy stops by to talk about what motivated them to challenge incumbent Andrew Johnson, the need to defund the police, housing policy and more.

Today we are joined by South Minneapolis activist Marjaan Sirdar to discuss his explosive series of reports in Unicorn Riot exposing the Target Corporation's leading role in building mass incarceration in Minneapolis and beyond. Entitled 21st Century Jim Crow in the North Star City the report tracks the development of Target's Safe City" and "Downtown 100" initiatives that criminalizes and surveils Black youth in Minneapolis as well as Targets extensive collaboration with the FBI, ATF and prosecutors across the country.

This is the absolutely damning Washington Post article we discuss in the interview

Today we are honored to be joined by Amber and Ileana from the newly formed Minnesota Council of Non-Profits (MCN) Workers Union. Amber and Ileana discuss the issues that drove the decision to unionize, the hopes, dreams and goals of the workers and we debunk some of the union busting myths that management uses to discourage worker organizing.
Unfortunately, in the time since we recorded this interview the Executive Director of MCN has affirmed his anti-union stance and refused to voluntarily recognize the union. Make sure you follow the MCN Union on social media and support them as they move toward their union election.

Top of the morning to ya! We are celebrating the Irish diaspora on this St. Paddys Day by remembering the brave soldiers of St. Patricks Battalion in the Mexican American War. St. Patricks Battalion was a multi-racial unit comprised mostly of recent Irish immigrants who defected from the slave holding army of the United States and fought with the people of Mexico against the U.S. invasion. On part one we go back to Ireland in the 1800's to learn about the conditions that produced these soldiers and shaped their solidarities. Subscribe on Patreon to get access to part 2 where we cross the Atlantic and go to war with the ugly ideology of manifest destiny.
**Trigger Warning*** this episode includes descriptions of emaciation and hunger in the context of famine
This episode, as always, was beautifully produced by our very own Isaac Specktor
This episode features a rendition of "Skibbereen" by Irish-American piper Jim McKenna. Named after a town in County Cork, the lyrics for this Irish folk song follow a conversation wherein a father details to his son why they were forced to leave Skibbereen, due to famine, eviction and rebellion.
