Now, he’s a Digital Marketing professor and MBA Program Director at Western Washington University. Prior to teaching, he worked in advertising and product management. Mark is truly an expert in digital marketing and he was one of my favorite professors while I was in college, so I just had to have him on my show. In this episode, Mark talks about the marketing funnel, applying for jobs when you have no experience, becoming a t-shaped marketer, the proper way to network, and how marketing can be used for social change.

The only real job experience I had was nannying and retail. Then I was hired as a marketer for a non-profit when I was only 18 years old. So many people were shocked that I was able to land this professional job as a teenager, especially when my last position was as a seasonal associate at Macy's. What they didn't know is that I had actually been educating myself, growing my skills, and building a portfolio for months before this. In this episode, I share the secret tricks I used that helped me get my foot in the door with marketing. If you want to go into marketing but have absolutely no knowledge, no portfolio, and no relevant experience on your resume, do not fret! After working on these steps for a few months, you should have no problem landing that first digital marketing job! This is also useful advice for those of you listening in the midst of the pandemic since probably have a lot of free time on your hands to be growing your skills 😁

In this episode, I chat with serial entrepreneur, Kristi Monte, about topics like lessons for young entrepreneurs, managing your time and business, and setting goals and boundaries. Kristi is only 24 years old and manages FIVE different businesses and tens of revenue streams. I found out about her business last year after finding her podcast "Coffee with Kristi" when I was searching up "ways to grow your email list" and one of her episodes popped up on the first page (A+ on SEO!). Since then, I've regularly listened to her podcast and followed her business journey, and I was so excited when she agreed to come on my show even though it hadn't even released yet! (Oh yeah, we recorded this episode in February). I had such a fun time talking to her and I think you will too. Welcome to Episode 1 of the MoneyTea Podcast! Today, we spill the tea on buyer's journeys and buyer personas.
If you’ve taken a class in marketing or have worked in marketing, you probably know all about the buyer's journey (a.k.a. the marketing funnel). If not, you MUST learn it - it’s essentially the backbone of all marketing strategies you’ll use in the future.
Creating buyer personas will give you a better understanding about who your ideal customer is and help you form your marketing messages and content around what that specific type of person would find appealing. In this episode, I give one buyer persona example of an ideal client for my MoneyTea Marketing services and what their buying journey might look like.
I also created a free PDF Buyer Persona & Buyer's Journey Template for you to download so you can create your own buyer persona and map out their journey. This pdf also includes a description of each stage, common tactics and tools to use in each stage, and questions to ask yourself when creating content for your buyer persona in each stage. Plus, I've added the example of my buyer persona and their buying journey here so you can see it on paper. Download it here: https://moneyteamarketing.com/buyers-persona-journey-template
