Nestled amidst the rugged mountain ranges and dense woodlands that shield if from the rest of North Carolina, Valle Crucis, meaning "Valley of the Cross," is a modest, yet astonishing town. In the chilling late hours of December 6th, 1978, a night watchman out on his regular route, came across a concerning sight: someone was attempting to break into one of his clients homes. With as much courage as he could muster, he attempted to interrupt this nighttime interloper's plot, though, as he discovered, perhaps not everything stalking in the shadows warrant investigating...

Out past the borders of Gurdon, beyond the illuminated forest, and adjacent to a moss infested graveyard, runs a rusted track believed to be the home of something otherworldly. Locals call it the Gurdon Light - a shimmering glowing fire of a ghostly lantern carried by a slain rail worker. Could this paranormal phenomenon truly be real, or could we shed a little light on the situation to discover that it is not?

Something strange fell from the sky in the early morning hours of August 7, 1994 over the small town of Oakville. Gelatinous, translucent blobs coated timber town a total of six separate times over the course of three weeks. Nobody could figure out what it was, all they knew was that it continued to fall from the clouds, slowly disappear hours later, then people were plagued by horrible health problems. What was this mysterious substance? Why had it fallen onto Oakville?

They say the most treasured folktales are often the most spellbinding. The secret ones that are often not spoken of. Dark and pervasive legends that twist our thoughts down the deepest, shadow filled cordoors of our minds. The thrill of conceptualizing such tales that could potentially blur the lines of disbelief and truth, all while taunting us with everlasting scars on our memories. Why do we crave such stories that we are uprepared to hear? Is it like a drug? An addiction? If what we hear can leave a lasting impression on us, why do we continue to risk encountering evil with every turn of the page?
