If you’ve taken a break from dance and you’re thinking about coming back to it, this episode is here to remind you that dance is something you can always come back to.
Your body is going to remember a lot more than you think it will.
I talk about going to the gym and doing squats after I hadn’t done them in a really long time. Of course there were some things I needed to relearn, but there were also so many things that I just remembered because I had already taken the time to learn them before.
Dance is like that too.
It can be scary to come back because you haven’t done it in a while. You might feel a little out of place. You might look around the room and start comparing yourself to everyone else. And now you’ve created this opening for all of these negative thoughts to sneak in instead of paying attention to everything you already know.
Maybe you were meant to dance before and then you needed a break. And maybe now you’re meant to dance again.
We come back to things all the time. Look at fashion. Look at technology. Look at phrases we haven’t heard in years that suddenly everyone is saying again. Things come back.
And you can come back to things too.
Taking a break from dance doesn’t mean that part of you went away. You might be surprised by how much is still there when you decide to come back.

This episode is all about why dance is one of the best things you can do for yourself.
I talk about how even on some of my worst days, dance is something I can turn to and almost instantly feel better. And I want that for everybody.
I also talk about how I track my mood and how doing that has helped me actually take an audit of my life. What am I doing when I feel good? What am I doing when I don't? What things am I consistently doing that seem to make my life better?
And most importantly, don't wait until you feel unhappy with your life to start doing something about it.
Start when you feel good.
If you're feeling good right now, this is actually the perfect time to start dancing, start moving, start doing more of the things that make you feel good. Because you're building momentum. Then when you do have a bad day, or a bad week, you already have something in your life that you know you can turn to.
Sometimes we wait until something feels wrong to start trying to make ourselves feel better. This episode is about doing the opposite.
Take an audit of your life. Figure out what makes you feel good. And when you find that dance does.. keep dancing!

In this episode I share with you a big trick for helping you with dance and your memory.
All great dancers have names for things and categorize things (patterns) in their head so that memory soon becomes easier.
Using this trick encourages you to be more playful and to have fun in the learning process.

As dancers, we're constantly creating illusions. We make people believe they saw something that didn't actually happen the way they think it did.
I talk about how we use angles to make ourselves look more flexible. How we speed something up and then slow something else down to create the illusion that there's more time in the music. How we shorten our limbs to make a movement fit the timing, while making it look much bigger than it actually was.
Dance is full of these little tricks that completely change what the audience sees.
This episode is about understanding that dance isn't always about doing everything perfect but rather meeting yourself where you are at. Or creating an ILlusion that you are “there”.
Once you understand the con art of dance, you'll start seeing choreography differently, performing differently, and appreciating just how much of dance is really about perception…. And naturally you’ll become a better dancer !

This episode is all about listening to the dance calling.
Sometimes the biggest thing standing in your way isn't your own excuse. It's someone else's. It's the fear of what your parents might think, what your friends might say, or whether the people around you will support you dancing in heels or doing something that feels completely outside of who they've always known you to be.
I share my own experience growing up in a Catholic household and the conflicting feelings I had around dancing, femininity, and the work I do today. Whether those messages were spoken directly or picked up indirectly, they were still loud enough to make me question myself.
We talk about what real support actually looks like. The people who truly support you don't immediately tell you why you shouldn't do something. They get curious. They ask what you love about it. They want to understand why you're being called toward it.
I also talk about how it's okay to protect something while it's still new. If starting heels feels vulnerable, you don't have to tell everyone you're doing it. Sometimes it's enough to let it be yours until you feel strong enough to share it.
This episode is about learning to quiet the noise, trust the calling, and remember that if something keeps pulling at you, there's probably a reason. Sometimes that calling is simply the next version of yourself asking to be explored.
