  • 82: Breaking Free from Childhood Modeling: How Early Influences Shape Us

Hey everyone! Welcome back to the More Than Enough Podcast! In today’s episode, we’re diving into something really close to home for all of us – the power of modeling. And no, we’re not talking about runways or toy trains! We’re talking about the way that behaviors, beliefs, and patterns modeled to us as kids shape our perspectives and lives, often without us even realizing

Today we open up about how we each experienced certain behaviors modeled in our childhoods and how those early experiences can stick with us. We chat about how, whether we want them to or not, these influences often become foundational, impacting our beliefs, relationships, and even how we view ourselves. I think of it as a sponge – whatever we were soaked in as kids tends to seep out in our adult lives, whether we like it or not.

But here’s the hope-filled part: just because something was modeled to us doesn’t mean we’re stuck with it forever. We talk about the ways we’ve learned to step back, acknowledge those patterns, and – most importantly – invite God into those areas to bring healing and transformation.

So, whether you’ve noticed certain behaviors or beliefs you’d rather not carry forward or you’re just starting to explore how your childhood shaped you, this episode is for you. We’re here to remind you that change is possible, healing is real, and God is ready to help you walk through the hardest parts. We pray that as you listen, you feel seen, supported, and encouraged to take steps toward freedom and transformation.

We hope these conversations encourage you to explore what’s been modeled to you and inspire you to create new patterns that bring more light, peace, and joy into your life. Remember, you are not defined by what was modeled to you – there’s always a new way forward.

  • 81: Facing Life’s Battles: Faith Beyond the Bait-and-Switch of Western Christianity

Hey friends, welcome back to the More Than Enough Podcast! In today’s episode, I sit down with Madre as we talk about something that's been a recurring theme in our conversations lately: the feeling that sometimes Western Christianity can come off like a bait-and-switch.

You know, the way the gospel can be presented as this message of peace and happiness without fully preparing us for the real struggles of life. So, we wanted to dive deep into that and unpack what we mean by it. We’re asking the tough questions today—like, are we unintentionally overselling the easy parts of Christianity without discussing the difficult ones? How can we be honest about the challenges that come with faith?

We’re not here to provoke fear or anxiety, but rather to encourage all of us to accept the reality of hardship and to lean into God’s peace and strength through it. It’s about facing life’s battles knowing that God is with us every step of the way, equipping us for what’s ahead.

  • 80: Lessons from Hurricane Helene

Welcome back to the More Than Enough Podcast! We missed you last week as we took some time to navigate the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. For those who don’t know, we’re based in Asheville, North Carolina, and our community was hit hard. We lost power and water, and the storm left behind a trail of devastation that we’re all still processing.

In this episode, Madre and I open up about what it was like living through this unexpected hurricane.

In the midst of such devastation, It was incredible to see how people shared what they had – water, food, even just a helping hand. In the midst of it all, there was this sense of unity, a leveling of the playing field where it didn’t matter who you were or what you did, but how you could help each other through. We both felt God’s presence in that, guiding us to see each other with new eyes.

As we continue to rebuild, we’re so thankful for the helpers – both near and far – who have shown up in our community. I hope our story resonates with you and reminds you to look for the helpers around you too, in big ways and small.

Hey friends, welcome back to another episode of The More Than Enough Podcast! This episode is a special one because I got to record it while sitting right next to my mom!

Today, we’re diving into a topic that feels really close to my heart: the journey of not growing numb in our lives. We talked about what it looks like to be truly present with our emotions, with God, and with the people around us, even when it feels easier to shut down or disconnect. It’s a struggle I think so many of us face, especially when life feels overwhelming, and sometimes, we either find ourselves paralyzed by fear and anxiety or shutting down completely to the point of numbness.

If you've ever felt overwhelmed, disconnected, or like you're just going through the motions, this episode is for you. I hope you'll listen in and feel encouraged to face whatever might be causing you to go numb and instead, choose to wake up and feel again.

Thanks for joining us today, friends! Be sure to let us know your thoughts, share your own experiences, or just say hello. We love hearing from you!!

  • 78: When to Keep, Tweak, or Let Go: Navigating Traditions

Welcome back to another episode of the More Than Enough Podcast! Today we are diving deep into the topic of traditions, especially as we enter the cozy fall and holiday season. We’re chatting about why traditions are so important and how they can become a grounding, life-giving part of our families, whether they're big, elaborate rituals or small, everyday moments.

We start off by reflecting on how traditions often resemble routines but on a grander scale. They’re more than just habits—they’re intentional practices that can provide a sense of stability and belonging, especially in a fast-paced world.

One of the biggest takeaways for us is that traditions don’t always have to stay the same. Sometimes, what once brought joy might start to feel like a chore, and that’s okay! It's a sign that it's time to adjust or even let go.

We also touch on the importance of inviting God into our traditions. This is a big one! By asking Him to guide us in choosing which traditions to keep or let go of, we can make sure they’re truly life-giving and not just another thing to check off our to-do list. We share how sitting with God and seeking His vision can help create traditions that not only ground us but also draw us closer to Him.

We challenge you to take a moment this week to reflect on your own traditions. What are the ones that bring you joy? Are there any that might need tweaking or letting go? And if you’re looking to start something new, don’t be afraid to sit with God and ask Him to guide you in creating traditions that will bring life and joy to your family.

You know, the Lord’s Prayer is something many of us have known since we were kids. I’ve recited it countless times, and it’s so familiar that, honestly, it can start to feel a bit like a formula. But today, we’re taking a deeper look. We’re unpacking what makes it so powerful and why Jesus gave us this prayer as a guide. We’ll be going line by line, exploring what each phrase means and how it speaks to our relationship with God.

  • 76: What is Your Calling?

Hey friends! Welcome back to another episode of the "More Than Enough" podcast. Today, we're getting real about something many of us wonder about: What is our true calling? What’s that thing we’re meant to do, and how do we figure it out?

We kick things off by reflecting on what “calling” really means. We often get stuck on the idea that our calling has to be this big, elusive purpose or a specific job title. But here's the thing: while our individual callings may look different on the surface, they all share a common foundation. We’re called to be in relationship with God, to experience His love, and then to share that love with those around us. That’s our starting point.

From there, we unpack how this foundational calling shapes everything else. We talk about how God’s purpose for us is less about what we do and more about who we are becoming. Whether we’re a doctor, a parent, a plumber, or a missionary in a faraway land, our primary calling is to love God with everything we've got and love others well. And when we focus on that, the details of our “calling” become less about the specific job or role and more about how we live our lives with intention and love.

We also chat about the importance of work and how it’s woven into our calling. We explore how work, whether it’s in a job, a home, or even within ourselves, is part of God’s design for us. But we also talk about how work can become distorted—either by making it our whole identity or by avoiding it altogether. It’s about finding that balance where our work reflects God’s creativity and purpose in our lives.

And if you’re feeling a bit lost about what your specific calling might be, we share practical steps for tuning into what God is already doing in your life. Sometimes, our calling is right in front of us, in the gifts we’re already using or the passions we naturally pursue.

Join us in this honest and heartfelt conversation as we dig deep, share personal stories, and hopefully provide some clarity and inspiration. Remember, you’re not alone in this journey. We’re all figuring it out together, and the most important thing is to keep our eyes on God, trusting that He is enough for every step of the way.

Thanks for listening, and may you feel encouraged and blessed as you move forward this week!

  • 75: Sacred Morning Routines

Today, we’re diving into something that seems to be everywhere these days: morning routines. But we’re adding our own twist—calling them "Sacred Morning Routines."

We truly believe that a morning routine isn't just about checking things off a list; it's about creating a sacred space, a spiritual rhythm that anchors us in times of transition. It’s about finding that quiet moment to connect with God and ourselves, to set our hearts and minds on things above. It’s been life-changing for both of us, and we hope to inspire you to explore what this could look like in your own life.

We talk about our personal journeys with morning routines—how they’ve shifted and changed with different seasons, from the chaos of raising little kids to the stillness of quieter mornings. We also reflect on how God meets us wherever we are, whether it’s in a structured devotional time or a simple walk in nature.

No matter what your mornings look like, we encourage you to take stock of your current routine. Ask yourself: is it serving you well? Or could it use a little realignment to help you feel more grounded and connected with God? Remember, it doesn’t have to look a certain way. It’s not about getting up at 5 a.m. with a candle; it’s about finding what works for you and allows you to be present with God.

We hope this episode inspires you to embrace your mornings as a sacred opportunity to reset, connect, and invite God into your day—no matter how busy or calm your season may be.

Thanks for joining us today! We are so blessed to have you with us on this journey, and remember, He is always more than enough!!

  • 74: How to Reflect After a Transition

In this episode, we delve into why it’s crucial to pause and reflect on the transitions we experience, whether they’re monumental life changes or everyday shifts. We often rush through these periods without acknowledging their impact, but taking time to reflect allows us to fully process what we've been through. It’s in these moments of reflection that we can truly appreciate the growth, grieve what’s been lost, and prepare our hearts for what lies ahead.

We discuss the importance of allowing yourself to feel the full spectrum of emotions that come with transitions. Whether it’s joy, grief, anxiety, or relief, every emotion plays a role in your healing and growth. Just as our family cats expressed their disorientation and anxiety after a big move, we too must create space to fully experience and acknowledge our feelings. This emotional honesty is essential for moving forward in a healthy way.

Throughout the episode, we emphasize the power of leaning on God during these transitions. Life’s changes, whether expected or unexpected, can be overwhelming, but Jesus will ALWAYS meet us when we fix our eyes on Him!
