When it comes to social media, did you know that you are the one who is ultimately controlling what you see?
It's true. When you like, follow and save something - over time - whatever the theme is that you are attracted to is suggested to you more and more.
So if you're seeing negativity on social media - change your environment. If you are following influencers who, by watching their lives, cause you to feel bad about your life - stop following them.
There is good, bad and ugly on social media...just like in the every day world around us. It can take a toll on us if we aren't smart consumers.
There is also a lot of fakestagram happening. Being aware will help you to stop coveting the "perfect" ones you're seeing out there.
Also - remember that just because someone isn’t sharing everything about their lives does NOT mean they are fake. There is a such thing as over sharing - which Ashley and Molly get into. Molly was an open book - over sharing everything - for most of her life.
Well, almost everything. Not the dirty little secrets she didn’t want anyone to know. Ashley helps Molly understand, like no therapist has before, why she did that for so long. Not because Ashley’s a therapist, but because Ashley was the same way.
(The ladies never speak from a place of expertise. Only experience. Today’s episode is no exception. While they do get into the psychology of it, they are not giving medical/professional advice. Seek help by a licensed pro if you resonate with what they speak of.)
At the end of the day, social media gives you exactly what you're looking for. Be a smart consumer when it comes to social media. Protect your peace.
