Today we talk all things church doctrine with long time Rising Sun member, Dave Bouchard. We discussed what doctrine actually is and how doctrine can and often does lead to denominational divides. He talked with us about how RSCC has always set their focus on being a New Testament, working to mimic the early church founded in Acts.

We also briefly talked about the difference between systematic and biblical theology and of course the importance of good hermanutics.

We're back with another episode of misused and misunderstood verses. Today we are talking about Matthew 6:1-8 when Jesus is giving the sermon on the mount and talking about doing things in secret.

Over several episodes we will go through the basic tenants of how to study scripture while also helping you not get to bogged down to the point where studying is all your doing.

The Bible is a single story, in a library style format, that leads us to Jesus from beginging to end and it is important that we read it that way with clear strategies and an appropriate lense.

Today we sit down with our Pastor Steve and chat about if and how the nuclear family images our Triune God. He walks us through his search for what it meant to be a man 15 years ago and how scripture and study led him to a biblical and actionable definition. He also talks about how he was challenged with the question, "what does this mean for women?" and how that simple question led to the framework that greatly impacted their own family and is now the foundation of how we do family ministry here at Rising Sun.
