  • Episode 19: Simon Chard and Instagram

This was such a great conversation, Simon Chard is a dentist that is  Practicing in the UK. We talk about what Instagram and what it has done for him. He has a new eco friendly toothpaste called Parla Toothpaste. I really wish him well with this remarkable product and I hope will get the industry to a new tipping point in how we deliver our dentrifices.

Below is his introduction on his website, but I can tell you he is so much more than that. He is a husband, a new parent but above all a genuine human being with no fanfare. He has impeccable dress sense and I got a good laugh from him for my comment on it.

Enjoy this conversation with me and share with your friends. Make sure to subscribe to never miss an episode and leave us your thoughts.

Dr Simon Chard BDS(Hons) BSc(Hons) qualified with Honours from King's College London Dental Institute in 2012. In 2015 he was voted the Best Young Dentist in London and also the overall Best Young Dentist in the UK at the prestigious Dentistry Awards.

  • Episode 18: Brian Burchell

A while back Brian asked me to come and help him with a guided implant case. We have known each other for a while, and it was a perfect opportunity to pick his brain. He graciously hosted me in his beautiful home in Groot Brak river and met his wife and son.

When it comes to finding people that share the same sort of values in business and personal relationships they are far and few between.Brian is definitely one of those people for me. He has a relentless drive for excellence. Everyday he strives to look well after his patients, his working family (In his own words, he does not talk about staff as they are not his stuff) and is a present husband and father when he gets home.

He is finishing up his MBA at University of Stellenbosch this year which is no small feat. Brian has a way about him that he will not only be valuable asset to those near to him, but also the broader community of dentistry.

I hope you enjoy this as much as I did, please make sure to subscribe on whatever platform you use and thanks for listening to  More than Dentistry.

  • Episode 17: Kyle Stanley

I had the privilege to chat with this amazing human. What he has accomplished already in such a short amount of time is remarkable. For me to explain this I would do a disservice here is a quote from his website.

Dr. Kyle Stanley, named as "The Next Generation of Cosmetic Dentistry" by the AACD in 2015 and "Top 10 Young Educators in Dentistry" by the Seattle Study Club, graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC and then completed a dental implant residency along with a dental implant specialty in Brazil. While at USC, Dr. Stanley completed an Esthetic mini-residency with a world leader, Dr. Pascal Magne, and was honored with the Charles L. Pincus Award for outstanding achievements in esthetic dentistry by the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry. He is also a dedicated researcher who has published in some of the top international dental journals about topics relating to esthetics, dental implants, and smile design. Dr. Stanley is a KOL for many well-respected companies and has presented on five continents as a highly in-demand speaker. With his company Pearl, he is changing the way patients are treated through artificial intelligence and is a leader in this field. Dr. Stanley maintains an exclusive private practice in Beverly Hills, CA.

What this intro does leave out, is the amazing human I perceive him to be. Not just in a clinical setting but about his fellow dentists well being. He is making a conscious effort to talk about things that everyone dreads to talk about, stress, debt, suicide, anxiety. This is something that does lie near to my heart, getting fellow dentists talking about the difficult topics. To get to the point where we can support each other and not be isolated.

I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.
