THE JOHN EPISODE 18– JOHN 2 SERIES : THE OFTEN IGNORED CONNECTIVITY OF THEMES
Too often we view sections of Scripture as unrelated pericopes, but they in fact relate thematically when observed through the lens of the writer's purpose. In this episode, we identify the ways in which John builds connective themes in his gospel as he writes to fulfill the purpose of fostering faith in his audience that Jesus is in fact the Messiah, the Son of God.
While the sign of water to wine in Cana seems disconnected with the cleansing of the temple, they relate thematically as they feature matters of faith.
If you are new to the podcast, I recommend that you go back to the beginning of the series as it will help you connects doctrines, symbols, illustrative language, and themes that John presents. You will learn to think more critically of Scripture while learning to ask questions that will deepen your understanding of God's Word.
