The Carolina Hurricanes needed extra time for the second straight game. But, they came away with a 3-2 shootout win over the Washington Capitals to move back in front in the Metropolitan Division. Stefan Noesen and Andrei Svechnikov each scored, Martin Necas continued his torrid start with a pair of assists, and Freddie Andersen stopped Alex Ovechkin and Dylan Strome in the shootout to seal the win. Canes are off until Thursday night when they play the Lightning in Tampa.
