In today’s reading of Tyndale’s OYCSB (with featured content written by the CBT team),
David matures in Bible literacy through a faith journey administered by God. He learns from God's discipline responses when he sins. He learns from God response of blessing when he obeys. He grows in faith as a man, husband, and king.
In the final chapter of his life, David understands that God's choice for His permanent dwelling in Israel mandates a critical juncture of God's covenant process. The Law of Moses is a living document. It does not represent a stagnant religious list of activities. On the contrary, God calls Israel to walk with Him by faith in an authentic developing relationship. A transition to a permanent temple replacing a mobile tabernacle requires an application of law that reorganizes Israel in their commitment to obey the law.
