  • What happens when you invite Taliban commanders for a game of cricket
    Author and SAS Soldier Anthony "Harry" Moffitt told Gareth Parker how is love and passion for cricket helped him serve two decades in the SAS.
    Harry's book is called Eleven Bats - The Story of Combat Cricket and he told Gareth a "standout" cricket memory came when he was deployed in Afghanistan in 2005.
    "We were playing cricket and the Taliban commanders were sledging us over the radio, saying we were rubbish...we got and invited them for a game," he said.

    A Salvation Army program distributing food to homeless people in the CBD has wound up, with the charity told the service had not been "approved"  by the City of Perth.

  • Attack was the "definition of random" says Fisheries Minister
    Beaches in Broome have reopened 24 hours after a man was fatally mauled by a shark. 
    The man was body boarding at Cable Beach yesterday morning when he was attacked. 
    Swimmers pulled the victim's body to shore and performed CPR but he couldn't be saved. 
    Reporter Michael Genovese is in Broome and says authorities are still searching for the shark. 
    Fisheries Minister Peter Tinley also joined Gareth Parker and says this attack seemed to be the "definition of random."

    Nine News reporter Kelly Haywood is in Kallaroo this morning where a toilet block has apparently been blown up. 
    Kelly told Gareth Parker Police are concerned about the welfare of three youths who were seen running out of the building after the blast.

    A Perth couple is taking legal action against a fostering organisation after it refused to consider their application. 
    The couple believe their application was rejected on the grounds that as parents they believe identifying as gay, lesbian or bisexual is a sin and they would try to help any child overcome that sin.
    The couple's lawyer John Steenhof joined Gareth Parker to explain the case.
