The fact that Mortal Kombat isn't a very good movie is probably not tremendously surprising. What IS a little crazy is that it's still one of the better live-action adaptations of a video game. Chris was always impressed by the level of respect the filmmakers clearly had for the source material, Carlos had a few issues with some of the changes they made, and Donna had never seen it and thought this was a Jean Claude Van-Damme movie. Topics include: the origins of the video game franchise and the controversy it created, which actress almost played Sonya Blade, which actor the rest of the internet wants you to believe almost played Johnny Cage (and why Chris thinks it's impossible), Shang Tsung's questionable motivation for manipulating our heroes to enter the tournament, why a Japanese deity is being played by Christopher Lambert, the decision to make Reptile an actual reptile, the character they created just to kill off, the awesome soundtrack, the terrible sequel, and so much more!
