    We loved this story!
Where does Raven Bramblebutt and the Feral Children rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
Right at the very top. The narrator does a fantastic job as storyteller of a well written, imaginative fairy tale. We loved the comparisons of the Canadian city of Vancouver to the picturesque american town of Leavenworth and the two very distinct life styles that each location offers.
What does Meg Roe bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
We loved the description of the characters; both human and canine! They come alive during the narration of this audio book. Meg Roe`s expressive storytelling technique is never tiring and inspires the listener to use their imagination. The story is most enjoyable being listened to in a quiet room with closed eyes to better imagine Sevilla Rae and Mary Bruce as Sevilla Rae attempts to induce her friend to love the city of Vancouver and introduces her to all of the wonders of the `big city`.
    My son loved this audiobook!
Would you consider the audio edition of Raven Bramblebutt and the Feral Children to be better than the print version?
The reading by well-known actress, Meg Roe, is sublime! We loved all the different voices for the characters, and had to keep listening to find out what was going to happen to Sevilla Ray and her dog, and to the wicked witch, aka the Mean Librarian.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Raven Bramblebutt and the Feral Children?
We loved it when Sevilla Ray met the Feral Children for the first time.
Which character as performed by Meg Roe was your favorite?
The Mean Librarian, of course, because she has a British accent, and sounds so intimidating!
    Any additional comments?
I would say it's suitable for children of all ages, but particularly 8-12. Great to listen to in the car, and parents will be into it too.

Another home run for Tara Moss
This is a fun supernatural series...what I love is that it never drags...ever. Just fun, creative and very upbeat. While the actress in each book of the series is different, they're all upbeat and perfectly set the tone for each book. I was concerned about this, but they were all so similar you barely noticed.
    Beyond Creepy!
    Any additional comments?
I give it three stars because it is an interesting story in what I thought was a fantasy novel.
When I noticed Biblical parallels (only on the dark side) I was way creeped out...and that was before she gives acknowledgement to the Wiccan Goddess Fiona Horne at the end! What??
    Just my opinion.
    A light listen
Would you consider the audio edition of The Spider Goddess to be better than the print version?
As I have not read the print edition this is difficult but the narrator certainly made it an interesting listen. The fact that the narrator of this second book in the series was different from the first does not detract from it.
What did you like best about this story?
All of it but the descriptive passages of the house are very good.
Have you listened to any of Luci Christians other performances? How does this one compare?
I have not listened to any other narration a by Luci.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Very nearly did listen to it in one go.
    Any additional comments?
Have downloaded the third in the series on the basis of the enjoyment of one and two!

In this classic storybook about lifelong learning, Reynolds inspires learners of all ages to navigate their full potential and follow their dreams.
    Members Reviews:
    No illustrations, but nicely read
What did you like best about The North Star? What did you like least?
Beautifully read, no complaints there. But I do wish that it was easier to tell whether an audio version of an illustrated book would actually include those illustrations BEFORE purchasing it. This one seems not to include them.
What other book might you compare The North Star to and why?
The Little Prince is a decent comparison in terms of its message and its fairy tale-inspired style. Unlike TLP, however, this story is both intended for and better suited to an audience of small kids. Mood-wise, I would compare this audio book to Rosemary Wells' A Voyage to the Bunny Planet. Very gentle, calming, dreamy.
What about Tim Currys performance did you like?
Curry's approach to the story is warm and gentle. There's great kindness in his narratorial delivery, which will carry most kids through the difficulties encountered by the boy in the story.
Could you see The North Star being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Questions like this one are very silly. I don't see why we can't just appreciate a story as a story. This one works perfectly well as a tale told simply in a human being's voice.

    Publisher's Summary:
It all starts with a train rushing through the night. Well, actually, it starts when Jon Scieszka, former National Ambassador for Young Peoples Literature, writes a cliff-hanger episode and passes it on to the next member of a cast of celebrated writers, who continue the story and passes it on. And what happens between episodes one and 27? Think werewolves and mad scientists, a talking pig, plenty of explosions, a blue Star Wars lunchbox, two meatballs, a whole army of villains and varmints, and one just plain bad egg. Not to mention the predicaments of our heroes, 11-year-old twins Nancy and Joe, raised in a circus, who must find the pieces of a Top-Secret Robot in order to rescue their parents before tick, tick, tick!
A collaboration between the National Childrens Book and Literacy Alliance and the Library of Congresss Center for the Book, The Exquisite Corpse Adventure originated as a national literacy project for young people and helped launch the READ.gov website.
With exquisite contributions by: M. T. Anderson, Natalie Babbitt, Calef Brown, Susan Cooper, Kate DiCamillo, Chris Van Dusen, Timothy Basil Ering, Jack Gantos, Nikki Grimes, Shannon Hale, Steven Kellogg, Gregory Maguire, Megan McDonald, Patricia and Fredrick McKissack, Linda Sue Park, Katherine Paterson (National Ambassador for Young Peoples Literature), James Ransome, Jon Scieszka (former National Ambassador for Young Peoples Literature), and Lemony Snickett.

Great Fun for Both Kids and Adults
The book is a progression of cliffhanger episodes, with different authors picking up from the last one to propel the hilarious plot forward. It is the most fun my family has ever had listening to an audiobook together. The plot, the characters and the way the story progresses are exciting, compelling and downright laugh out loud funny.
Each author brings their distinctive style to the narrative, especially the trademark Lemony Snickett phraseology, and yet the book remains cohesive as a whole.
The narrator, Phil Gigante, does a fantastic job - I really think his are the best voice characterizations I have ever heard on Audible. He manages to distinguish between the two main characters - twins Joe and Nancy - so subtly and yet so distinctly, and the "evil laugh" from the bad guy, Boppo the Clown, is perfectly pitched between creepy and funny.
This is definitely one audio-book we will be listening to again and again.
    Phil Gigante pulls it off
Would you try another book from the authors and/or Phil Gigante?
Yes, but not written like a tag team where the authors write where one left off. Phil Gigante somehow makes up for the storyline with a great performance.
Has The Exquisite Corpse Adventure turned you off from other books in this genre?
    No
Have you listened to any of Phil Gigantes other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes. He does agreat job making a bad story sound good, but with a good story he makes it great.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
    No, never.
    Any additional comments?
The authors made a game out of putting the next writer into a stupid storyline.

    Title: The Ring of Solomon
    Author: Jonathan Stroud
    Narrator: Jeff Rawle
    Format: Abridged
Length: 9 hrs and 48 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 08-16-11
    Publisher: Random House AudioBooks
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 7 votes
    Genres: Kids, Ages 8-10
    Publisher's Summary:
Fans of Jonathan Stroud's Bartimaeus books will devour this book - a cracking adventure brimming with magic, intrigue and a treasure trove of characters that the listener can't help but fall for. We find everyone's favourite irascibly insolent djinni serving at the court of King Solomon in 950 BC Jerusalem, where he is causing his customary chaos and must help a girl assassin sent by the Queen of Sheba to steal the all-powerful Ring of Solomon.
The comic relief is perfectly timed, the dialogue sharp and snappy and the fiendishly clever plot perfectly handled with Jonathan's trademark flair and command of language. Thrills, chills and a danger-spiked finale - this is one of the publishing events of the year.
    Members Reviews:
    Hooray - Bartimaeus is back!
So great to find another Bartimaeus book - the character is just so likeable! This story is set many years before the events of the original trilogy, looking back on some of Bartimaeus's adventures with King Solomon, which he so often referred to in the other books. Very enjoyable. The reading performance is good too, though I listened to this very shortly after the other trilogy (which was read by a different narrator) so I found it a bit difficult to adjust to the new interpretation.
    Fabulous Fun!
For those of you who have already experienced the intrigue, fast pace and wit that surrounds Bartimaeus - hold onto your hats, he's off again! I listen to "Barti" with my 12 year old son on car journeys and I cannot recommend Jonathan Stroud's work highly enough. He delivers exciting and literate adventures that not only entertain, but provide ample opportunities for discussion about the plot, its setting and characters. We have listened to the trilogy and now Solomon. The humour is wonderful throughout and the narration perfect. Enjoy! - these stories are a rare gem.
Jeff Rawle even better than Simon Jones
I greatly enjoyed Simon Jones' reading of Book 1 of the Bartimaeus Trilogy, but I haven't been able to buy the audio version of Book 2 because of purchase restrictions to listeners like myself living outside the UK. So I wasn't sure if The Ring of Solomon would make much sense. In fact, it was brilliant as a stand-alone story and I found Jeff Rawle's characterizations even wittier and more entertaining than those of Simon Jones. Highly recommended.
A great read and even better listen
I love the Bartimaeus books. Originally downloaded as suitable listening for the children, my son and I now compete for the first read/listen. Full of wonderful language, adventure, imagination, myth and very funny, I would rate these alongside Harry Potter and Artemis Fowl!
    very witty magical beings
a very entertaining well read book, with a twist in the tail great for all the family

introduced me to the first book when she told how happy she was to be here where the book took ...
We own the Virginia City Inn in Virginia City Nevada where the book takes place. A 10 year old guest, with eyes wide opened with excitement, introduced me to the first book when she told how happy she was to be here where the book took place. I have sent the book to grandchildren for their birthdays and 3 little sisters loved the book and took turns reading to each other, 7 year old, 9 year old and 11 year old. A later book mentions a beautiful prayer that PK said each morning as he looked out on the 100 mile view which is right behind our Inn. I think it teaches good values such as prayer in a dangerous situations despite the rougher character's PK is introduced to. We loved it and it is full of history.
    Excellent new series
I enjoyed greatly Caroline Lawrence's earlier series, The Roman Mysteries, and just finished this first volume in her Western Mysteries. I was equally impressed here with her excellent writing, meticulous attention to historical detail, fast-moving action and good character portrayal. Given the 12-year-old series hero, that seems the likely mid-point age of its main readership, but adults who like a good story should read the series also. I'm looking forward to reading more about P.K.
Share it with your favorite adult!
So many twists and turns! Entertaining enough for a child to share with their favorite adult. (Explores the learning of social cues in a child who has difficulty and could be autistic...) My fourth-grader loved this Wild West adventure!
good for an 11 yr old boy
My 11 year old son loved this book! He can't wait for the next one in the series. Is it a series?
    Fantastic western-themed adventure!
This book was our first foray into westerns or adventure stories (my daughter is 7, but an advanced reader), coming as recommended reading from our homeschool curriculum provider for the summer. We enjoyed the characters and the twists and turns of the story, though I was a little shocked at the level of detail in the opening chapters - it is very vivid, though appropriate for the setting. Definitely on our read-again list.

This is such a beautiful piece of storytelling. The writing is subtle and clear and the characters are well rounded and believable.
