Mostly Climate: Hydropower in Nepal

Listen Later

Podcast series from the Met Office investigating climate - the underlying science and the challenges we face from a warming planet.
Hydropower in Nepal
What is worse, too much rain or too little? Possibly both? - Nepal’s hydropower industry is dependent on more than just rainfall – understanding the risk and frequency of future extreme weather such as drought and heavy rainfall is key to creating safe and secure energy supplies for Nepal and beyond. In this episode Dr. Doug McNeall talks to Dr. Rosie Oakes and Hamish Steptoe, who travelled to Nepal to understand how climate data can be used to effectively protect the nation’s electricity supply.
