Hey Y'all, welcome back to another week of being a tougher mother!  Recently, I have been having discussions of death with my 5-year-old due to our hermit crab, Tator Tot, ascending to Heaven.  The death conversation is definitely not an easy one to be had but at some point, it has to be done.  I have chosen, in my parenting journey, to keep things as honest as possible from correct anatomy terms to what happens to our souls, I keep it real and directed to the age of my audience.  This led me to think about how I have handled death and funerals on a personal level and as a stepmom.  Should we be sending our kids (step or bio) to funerals of people they do not know as support to family?  Hmmm... I do not know about all that!!!

Hey Mother Toughers!!!  I am opening up, this week, about my eldest's mental health and how I am parenting through things that can be hard to see your child struggle with.  We have been working through this for a long time and our girl has been fighting but when she can't you better believe this (step)mama is there to push her through it.

Lately, I have had to revisit my boundaries not only for myself but for my kids as well.  I am relearning the power of the word "no" and that my kids need to see me put my foot down more.  I believe our kids learn everything from watching us, this includes boundaries, manners, and regulating emotions.  We only have our kids in our home for a short while so we are building their foundation so that they can build on it later.
