Can you say you believe something if your behavior says otherwise? Do your behaviors tell the story of what you actually believe? Does it even matter what you say you believe if you don’t follow that up with action, behavior?

Hope is different from Trust. We don’t hope God wins. We trust God will. And that means we have decisions to make about how we live in that trust. Do I live a life that exudes trust in my God? Or do I live a life that hedges my bets just in case God is not trustworthy?

Is God good? Of course, all the Christians know they’re supposed to say “yes.” We sing songs about it! Some churches say every Sunday: :God is good, all the time!" But some of you may be unsure… Maybe your faith has been shaken. Maybe you can’t reconcile a “good God” with all that is happening in the world. So… Is God still good when life is bad?

You probably know someone who did everything right, but things still didn't end up alright. Maybe that person is you. And maybe you once believed that if you trusted God and followed him faithfully, that you would be protected from the arrows of the enemy. The truth is, as followers of Jesus, we believe that the worst possible thing happened to the best possible person. God did not protect his perfect son from the cross, so where did we come up with this idea that things should be easier for us if we follow Jesus? It's possible that you've been told this lie at church at some point in your life: Trust God, and it's all going to work out. And maybe that's the version of Christianity that brought you to faith. But then… things don't go according to plan, and everything falls apart.
