Happy May the Fourth, Movie Nuffs! As a special Star Wars holiday treat, we're releasing this week's episode a day early for you. And what an episode it is! We finally kept the promise we made all the way back in our very first cast and watched Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. Bobel Fett, Dark Vader, Yoga with Yoda, all your favs are here! We find out all about Yoda's multi-colored family, explore the inner lives of space snakes, and speculate about the true purpuse of Dark Vader's Egg House. Plus, the real-life Chewbacca drops by for a chat! We hope you give this one a listen, but don't worry; we won't "force" you ;)
🎵 Mae, a girl, a podcast girl
Phil, her podcast fiancé
James, a boy who's also there
Music, the sound of which we... watched? 🎵
Okay, that ran out of steam pretty quickly. But this week's movie is the classic Rogers and Hammerstein musical The Sound of Music, so we had to give it a shot. Hills! Large broods of lilly-white children! Nazis! This one has it all. Plus Pikachu and Sonic find love, and we don't talk about a puppet nightmare.
Get your shovels and spades ready movie nuffs, cause we think you're really gonna DIG this episode! Hahaha, that's just a little graveyard humor for you, because this week we're talking Stephen King's evil baby murder fest Pet Sematery! And honestly, that's pretty much it. We talked about the movie like, the whole time on this one. It was weird!
We had a little bit of a scheduling whoopsy-daisy on the old THC this week faithful movie nuffs, so we don't actually have any James Ketelaars or Emily Stressmans available for your listening pleasure. Instead, please to enjoy this Phil-and-Mae-centric Very Special Episode: Mae Hates Monkey Movies! That's right, Mae claims to hate "all monkey movies", and this week Phil's going to try to win her over to the ape side with the all time classic monkey movie Planet of the Apes. Plus, we speculate about titles to future Ape Movie sequels, learn a little bit about our solar system, and explore Mae's neurotic labyrinth of redundant phone alarms.
Oh, hello there movie nuffs. Please, make yourselves comfortable. We'll go ahead and run a bath and light some candles for you while you put on your bib and poncho, cause you're about to hear the thirstiest episode of The Haters 'Cast yet. This week, Maegan and Phil defend the cult classic movie film Donnie Darko from James' late-coming hate. We also discuss James' new musical Buncha Hot Boyz: Soldier Time in Boytown, check in with our good friend Deadpool, speculate about a Donnie Darko / Dirty Dancing shared universe, debut our new Pillsbury unboxing series, and as a special bonus, Phil gives ya'll some free math tutoring!
Hey, did you see the title of the episode? It's like a sex joke. Like, it could refer to the episode itself, or it could be talking about something... naughty ;) If you like that kind of ribald, take no prisoners humor, then you're gonna love this episode's movie: Deadpool! And guest staring to argue the defense is James and Phillip's beautiful and perfect mother, Patti Ketelaar. That's right, our mom loooves Deadpool. The universe truly is a mysterious place full of mysteries. Also in this ep: We reveal which Spice Girls we each are, talk about Evil Circus Dinosaurs, and play the classic game If Your Movie was a Best Friend, Which Best Friend Would Your Movie Be?
This week the haters are back, and the tables have turned! Now it's Phil's turn to defend a movie that he loves from James' critical gaze: Stanley Kubrick's horror classic The Shining. Will Phil convince James to hater no more? And what will Mae, who has never even seen this gosh dang movie, have to say about it? Tune in to find out! Also, Phil gets stuck in a corn maze, we visit the International Scatters Database, and everybody clowns on poor old Stephen King.
In the inaugural episode of The Haters 'Cast, the haters tackle the film that inspired this whole dang ding-a-ling concept: The Star War: Episode Four: The New Hope. And boy howdy, do we clown it pretty hard. We also outline the format of the show, perfect our Alec Guinness impressions, and do our very first vape check in! Buckle your sit belts, Movie Nuffs. We're coming in hot.
